I waited a month for this referral appointment from my PCP. When I made the appointment they gathered my insurance information. It wasn't until I showed up at the window for my appointment, that they told me they didn't accept my insurance, and my out-of-network charge was $209. Now, why would I pay this when I have great insurance and my deductible is already met? Why didn't someone notify me, in advance, that my insurance is not accepted? This is a bad business practice, a complete failure in customer service and business operations. Front desk girl was rather cavalier with her apology, like no big deal, right? Consider all the inconveniences of taking off from work, getting ready to leave the house (I work from home), driving over there and now the further delay in care looking for another doctor and waiting for that appointment. I hope this does not happen to the elderly who have mobility and transportation issues. Certainly wasted half of my day. Totally unacceptable.
