List of Ambika Uppu's Reviews
Dr. Uppu / Hosakote is generally knowledgeable. That is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. However, if you are a plus sized patient, be warned. Not only has she made several deeply offensive and inaccurate assumptions regarding my weight, she is more concerned with weight loss than overall health. I would not recommend her or Reno Family Physicians as their office staff are rude and insensitive.
Dr. Uppu is very knowledgeable and much better at explaining her diagnosis than previous doctors I have had. She has always seen me within 10 minutes of my appointment time. Felicia and other staff are friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Uppu.
Dr Uppu is an excellent family physician. She's thorough and takes her time to answer questions and concerns. Very happy I found her.
When my wonderful PCP of 29 years retired earlier this year, I decided to go with Dr. Uppu from the same medical group. What a mistake! First appointment she tried to push statins on me, contrary to my cardiologist's advice. Then, when my compounded bio-identical hormone prescription had to be renewed, without telling me, she cut the dosage by 90%. What was originally 5 mg of estradial/estrial became 0.5 mg. As a result, I started to have hot flashes, night sweats, severe body and muscle pains, and sleeplessness (averaging 2-4 hours of sleep per night). I was a walking zombie, and couldn't understand what was happening to me. After a week, I called Dr. Uppu, and was patched through to her medical assistant's voice mail. I told her what was going on, that I was having a lot of problems. No one called me back to follow up. By the end of the second week, I'm in pure agony. I called the pharmacist up, and that's when I find out Dr. Uppu had ordered the dosage to be reduced by 90%. I immediately called Dr. Uppu, and I'm patched through to the MA's voicemail yet again. I leave a message saying I can't live like this anymore, and asked why the dosage was cut by 90% to 1/10 of what I've been taking. And again, no one called me back. Finally my AZ physician called the pharmacy and ordered me 6 months of the original prescription to give me time to find a new PCP. After he took care of this, THEN I got a call from the MA saying Dr. Uppu wanted me to come in for an appointment. I asked her whether the dosage cut was an error of a misplaced decimal point and she muttered sheepishly, "Uh, I don't know." Which made me even angrier, because if it were a mistake, I can go past it because everyone makes an occasional mistake. But if it was on purpose, then it was sheer incompetence and lack of compassion. I'm never setting foot in that office again!
My impression of Dr. Hosakote, as a patient, is that she is very sensitive, intelligent and intuitive. I've had many yearly physicals--my exam with Dr. Hosakote was very productive and I feel absolutely secure in her care.
She don't know how to talk with patient and don't know from where to start.
Dr. Hosakote is a very thorough doctor, she seems to look at a patient with the whole body approach of not only what is going on physically, but mentally, to get the better picture of could be wrong. She is an amazing doctor, one of the best I have ever known in my 60 years of being a patient.
excellent doc, caring and takes time to explain ..highly recommend her
No eye contact with patient. Dirty robe. Long waiting time. Never called back with the last blood test.
Dr. Hosakote treats the whole person--physically and mentally. In the many years I have been her patient, she has make on-target diagnoses and excellent referrals when necessary. She accepts my occasional experiments with alternative medicines and trusts my judgment. She listens to me and I feel like we are partners in my care. I think it is her kind manner and genuine interest that is keeping me so healthy.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
