David Howard's Online Review Report Card

I saw Doctor Howard after my first doctor retired, the doctor left me waiting a whole hour past my actual appointment time before he attended me. Which to me is unacceptable, maybe a half hour but not a whole hour, I was told he was running behind it did not seem to be the case from what I saw.

Dr. Howard is the 3rd endocrinologist I have had as my first one retired and the other one was in Utah and I live in Nevada. He was very dismissive of me; did not listen to anything my husband or I told him, did not seem to care about what I was actively doing, basically said my Garmin watch (which insurance paid for) was inaccurate (why would insurance pay for an inaccurate device?), and kept tossing me off on other doctors because my labs were "normal," so I must be fine and just not trying hard enough. He literally told me, "If you starve yourself you will lose weight, but I'm not saying to starve yourself." When he finally did discover and abnormal lab he referred me to my GP for care. If my GP could provide adequate care for my condition he would not have referred me to an endocrinologist. If you want to be told to starve, it's in your head, or be dismissed Dr. Howard is your guy. I am requesting my GP refer me to someone else. There is a reason he can take new patients so easily.

After thyroid removal he never put me on any meds. Had all the classic conditions ie:brain fog, depression,lack of energy etc. After several appts. he recommended I see a psychiatrist! Went to another Dr. and got the much needed meds and am doing much better now. A HORRIBLE Dr.!!

Excellent. He is well trained in Addison's disease. After 38 years as an Addisonian I feel I am in good hands finally.

after having my thyroid removed due to cancer D r. Howard did not put me on any meds. My body tailspinned with brain fog, weight gain, depression etc. He told me that I should see a psych...after seeing another Dr. and given the correct meds I am feeling much better. Very disappointed in Dr. Howards lack of compassion and knowledge even though he is an endo!

Wonderful Doctor who has been taking care of my wife for some time. I highly recommend him.

I was referred for follow-up care for hyperthyroidism. His 1st response was to remove my thyroid even though I had been well managed on medication for 4 years. I disagreed so he switched my meds from PTU to methimazole. In my next labs my TSH and T3 numbers were normal. I asked if I should be on a lower maintaince dosage. He said "no". Now my labs show hypothyroidism with high TSH. Going to a new doctor!

I was with this practice for 10 years. My doctor retired and then I started seeing my GP for my thyroid medication. I started having problems and thought I should go back to an endocrinologist. Tried making appointment and they said that I needed a referral, even though I'd been with that practice for 10 years. Got a referral from my GP, they sent it back to GP and said the only way I might be granted an appointment is to have my GP call them. Our health system is shameful in this county.

The mark of a GOOD endocrinologist is one who tests for all FIVE thyroid functions, not just TSH levels. They should also take in to account how you FEEL to determine if your medicine type and amount is good for YOU. They also need to take autoimmune thyroid disease in to account because it WILL effect your quality of life. It's YOUR health after all, do not rely on doctors who tell you how YOU feel.

1st: my GP referred me to this doc, but this doc was scheduling 4 MONTHS out. What person with a medical condition requiring a referral to a specialist and medical attention from a doctor would wait 4 months to be seen? 2nd: they said they would review my records and get back to me about whether or not they would even take me as a patient. As if I should be so lucky! 3rd, they called my GP (not me) and ordered more tests THROUGH ANOTHER DOC, BEFORE THEY WOULD EVEN SEE ME. Total amateur hour
