You know what hurts more than your current pain? Getting an intervention you might not need, or worse, causes more harm. I'm here to share my testimony and let you know there are non invasive and effective courses of treatment. At 29 years of age I first felt the shooting/burning pain down my leg and it was extremely alarming. However, with time and cautious movements the burning began to diminish. Unfortunately, with pressure to return to work and the desire to be completely free of pain I was talked into an epidural injection. Against my better judgement I followed through with the epidural, which increased/spread the burning sensation, left my legs weak/unstable and gave me blinding headaches for three months. This prolonged my healing process (physical and emotional) and left me with physical deficits. Since then I have tried and learned a few things. Firstly, when it comes to decisions about your body make sure you're 100% certain this is what you want to do, because regretting the decision is way worse than waiting.Consider the following: New symptoms or old amplified symptoms are scary and all you want is for the pain to go away. After multiple failed interventions I learned emotional trauma and stressors can trigger physical symptoms. Your body tries to communicate with you. What if addressing the trauma and stressors makes all your physical symptoms go away? What's it going to hurt to wait? Are there exceptions to your pain? Do you find relief or symptoms diminishing when you engage with something you love? You can't take back interventions but you can wait and replace it with something that better fits your needs. There's this shame surrounding pain that isn't 100% physical and emotional pain isn't as accepted. As if emotional pain makes someone mentally unstable or can't amplify physical pain. In reality the two coexist and can drive the other. There is a likelihood that you haven't been taught how to process physical or emotional pain and there are people trained to help. Processing with the help of professionals shows strength and a commitment to get better. I was offended and insulted when someone insinuated I was fabricating physical pain and it was all mental. However, physical and emotional pain trigger a similar response in the brain. This means emotional pain or a combination of physical and emotional pain can be mistreated.Remember physicians are running a business and you can walk away at anytime. Your time and quality of life are more important than their business transaction. Listen to yourself. If it doesn't feel right or you're feeling pressured then you are entitled to walk away at anytime.Lastly, I had a physiatrist (pain doctor) tell me that I "might need to just deal with the pain". They didn't give any recommendations for how to do that, so I had to research and find helpful resources. The following is a list of resources that I have personally tried and found helpful without costly side effects or permanent damage. Like anything worth while, these treatments require commitment and possibly a combination of a few. Pain psychology and Neuroscience is the most important aspect of healing. Hope this helps and reminds you to listen to your instincts. I will just say this......the negative comments below about Dr Pittman are not fabrications. I've experienced all of the complaints from others. Don't appreciate his rudeness or lack of attention to detail. Its inexcusable for a practicing physician, to schedule you for surgery, and then the day before, realize he's not licensed or equipped to perform said procedure. Epidurals and trigger point injections are their MO & are a nice $$ stream for them. Sadly they don't work terribly well, so the fall back is pushing narcs. Their billing company is a dumpster fire with way too many billing mistakes being made. In closing choose this Dr. & or practice at your own peril.
Dr. Pitman saw very professional and outstand in solving my pain issues. Thank you Dr. Pitman ! Pain free for the first time in years !
I feel for the other review on here and can relate. I know someone who records everything. I thought they were a bit over the top, but after my experience at Pitman's, I think I should have done this. They do not remember nor take notes on what is actually discussed in appts. I asked to have him take over an RX so I can save some money, as the other doctor does not take insurance and is double my copayment. He said yes even after saying he didn't prescribe it for why I take it and I said the real reason I take it. I assumed he would say no and I would keep trying. No he said he would prescribe me this medicine. Great. He directed me to see my other doctor for my upcoming appt and then see Pitman a month after. When I came back to see Pitman, he had zero recollection and no notes. I would not make this up as I am trying to pay off debt and looking for all ways to accomplish this faster. I would rather he said no and I could find a doctor who takes my insurance and could prescribe this drug. This lack of care and detail shows he cannot be trusted to give patients the care we need. Goodbye Pitman. My pcp can prescribe my migraine meds and my copay with her is a third of a specialist. I should thank you for lying and misleading me, because I will never go to a specialist for what my PCP can treat. But I will leave one star because lying is not acceptable.
Dr. Pitman gave me my life back. It honestly makes me sad seeing some of the other reviews. Dr. Pitman has been nothing but amazing. He has never given up on me or my treatment, even when there were days where I wanted to give up. I have a progressive nerve condition that caused me to be in and out of a wheelchair. I felt like I was burning alive or freezing to death. A simple breeze from someone walking by felt like I was being sand blasted with razor blades. He may be quiet and sometime a little intimidating when you first meet him but I have learned that it is when he deeply thinking of a treatment plan. After seeing him for almost 8 years, my condition is in remission. I am now able to walk miles at a time, I am learning to hike and most of all, my three teenagers have their mom back! I don't even have words to describe how much he has changed my life! Thank you.

I happened to like Dr. Pitman. He has a crisp, extremely Professional Style and I found him like able. Is he an extremely warm Dr. maybe not. Relationships takes time, and I’m willing to take the time. I’ve just seen him once. He is working well, with my Spine Surgeon and has made requests of me which I am going to follow. The chances of my having to have Spine Surgery again are very high. I am very frightened, and found Dr. Pitman to have compassion. I am following ALL of his requests. I’m from California, and all of this is new to me. I’m being a patient, patent and I trust him. I’ve had the same PCP for 30 years, and the same Pain Management Dr. for 12 years. It’s difficult to see a Dr. that knows nothing about me. Time equals a good Dr. patient relationship. I’ve had a Laminectomy, that failed, and the 30th of this year; I had a Spinal Fusion and Rod Insertion that only participants fused. I also have PTSD, due to surviving a Brutal Assault, that happened years ago. When you first see Dr. Pitman, the chances of you walking out with opiates are slim. You need to take a test first, and possibly see a Pain Psychologist. I was in too much pain to urinate or take a blood test. I have a pathological fear of needles. If you abide in Cannabis, he will want a current Nevada Medical License. I’ve decided I’m lucky to have a board certified Medical Dr. that is an experienced Anesthesiologist that has practiced for many years. We seek Pain Drs, to get pain relief and I do believe in time, I will be on Pain Management. I like the staff, and think Dr. Pitman will turn out to be an excellent fit. I’m 62 years old, the pic is from my High School graduation.
I have seen Dr Pitman several times. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Dr Pitman ordered diagnostic tests, sent me for Physical Therapy and performed injections. Having exhausted non medication methods for alleviating pain he did prescribe some pain medication. I have seen other pain management doctors in the past and had injections. Dr Pitman is much better, both with relatively pain free injections and improvement in pain with the injections. I highly recommend Dr Pitman.
Dr. Pitman acts more like a business man than a doctor. He has very poor bedside manners. He may be a good doctor but I didn't stay with him long enough to know. He was just too rude and cold for me. His office and staff and perhaps even Dr Pitman though are a bit unorganized. They were consistently getting my appointments, paperwork messed up. It was like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. They'd tell me to go have bloodwork or xrays done, when I had just turned them in on the previous visit. Left me feeling they( including the doctor) didn't know what they were doing.
Dr Pitman lacks any bedside manner. He may be a good doctor but I didn't stay long enough to find out. His office and staff and perhaps Dr. Pitman are unorganized. They were consistently mixing up my blood test, MRIs and appointments. Left me feeling they didn't know what they were doing.
