Lisa G. Abbott's Online Review Report Card

I have been a patient of Dr. Abbott since 2018. She has been wonderful in helping me with my thyroid problems. In 2001, I developed Graves disease, so my thyroid had to be ablated. My TSH level held steady for years, and I felt good. In 2018, it suddenly dropped so much that I had severe symptoms of hyperthyroidism, yet doctors would do nothing, because it was still "within range." Finally, a doctor referred me to Dr. Abbott, who told me what I already had guessed--that each patient has their own "sweet spot" within what is considered to be the normal TSH range. Dr. Abbott adjusted my thyroid medication to help me reach the specific TSH level where I feel the best. When my level changes, she continues to tell me how to adjust my dosage so I can get back to my "sweet spot." I was really sick before being treated by Dr. Abbott, because other doctors refused to acknowledge that I know my own body better than they do. My husband and I honestly believe Dr. Abbott saved my life.

Not patient and care oriented. All about trying to make money. One of my family members has been in to see Dr. Abbott multiple times and at the request of Dr. Abbott, went and got a bone scan in December. She scheduled an appointment with Dr. Abbott as soon as she could which was a month later on January 31st. When my family member went in to see her, Dr. Abbott had forgotten she ordered a bone scan, and did not pull the bone scan records before she had her appointment. When my family member asked to go over the bone scan, Dr. Abbott admitted she had forgotten and not had them pulled up and told her to schedule another appointment in a month to go over the scans. So my family member has to wait another month to go over something she already waited a month for, and then Dr. Abbott and the "billing office" wanted my family member to pay for literally no service and less than 3 minutes with the doctor. Only for the doctor to tell her, "I forgot I ordered that." and "Well you'll have to wait another month." and "That will also be $115 for you to speak with the doctor today." As she was leaving. Thank goodness there are still doctors trying to help patients out there, because these meetings and circumstances don't give me any hope for me or my families health care.

My last appointment I wasn't heard, and they asked the same questions multiple times without listening to the answer. I've been going for 3 years and I haven't felt better the entire time, and they clearly don't care.

I have been using Northern Nevada Endocrinology-Dr. Lisa Abbott-for many years now. I have tried other endocrinologists prior to Dr. Abbott without success.Dr. Abbott and her staff are by far the most knowledgeable, professional, compassionate people for my healthcare.I am checked out from head to toe. Questioned and all inquiries from me answered fully. My exams are thorough and never rushed.My medications are reviewed after every blood test. I have had many tests that were never offered by other doctors and am pleased that they cover every aspect of my diseases.If you can get an appointment with Northern Nevada Endocrinology do it. You will be surprised by their total commitment to your heath.

I was referred here by my doctor, who is refusing to treat my condition, and wanted the specialist to handle it. Dr. Abott's office booked my new patient appointment nine months out. It should have been in January 2022. Instead, they call today and cancel due to "unforeseen circumstances" and are no longer accepting new patients. They did not even bother to have alternative options for their patients set up. Most other places would discuss their need to offload patients with others in the field to make sure that their patients were still taken care of in a timely manner. Not this office. All of the patients they are canceling on are starting back at square one with another months to a year long wait to be seen. In the meantime, me and everyone else are having to deal with a multitude of medical problems. Do not go here unless you want to waste your time and not even be seen by a doctor!

I had an unbelievable experience with the staff. I had waited for my appointment for more than 4 months. During the past four months I lost two family members and it was really hard to keep things going on schedule. I had a reminder to send my paperwork till a deadline (I had never seen such a deadline for a doctor visit). I had mistakenly emailed the documents to another doctor. I had received a voicemail that my appointment was canceled. When I called to mention the voicemail was not respectful and unprofessional, Sheila told me that she was the office manager, my appointment was canceled and she hung up on me. I had never experienced such uncivilized behavior from someone in the healthcare system. She responded like she was trying to highlight that she was an authority there and I had to follow what I was told. That was unbelievable. These kinds of policies are dangerous for a doctor's office, especially if someone has a condition that could get worse over time.The insurance verification and doing the paperwork are not rocket science and they do not need such strict deadlines (5 days before the appointment). Even if such a deadline is set (it should not!), having flexibility is a MUST for such sensitive, health related appointments.I will email this review to the doctor's office as well. I hope the doctor sees this comment and considers some changes in the hiring process.

Check in is quick and easy. Wait time in reasonable.

I have a rare blood sugar condition that Dr Akins was finally able to diagnose back in the 90's. When I moved to the West coast I found a scientist Nancy Bohannon through the Mayo clinic. She worked with me for many years - she was incredible! Sadly she retired. I have been dealing with blood sugar problems again (I am reactive so I feel everything) and in desperation found Lisa on a web search. She appears to rank high on the specialist scale. I put a call in a week ago on Friday. They called me on Monday and missed me. I retuned the call asap. It's now Friday and I have not gotten one call back to book a first appointment. Every day I try calling (only to get a machine that says "do not leave another message") and just called this morning at 8 am to try to catch someone. Clearly no one is answering the phone. No one is making a real effort to get back to offer peace of mind to securing an appointment. Next week is Christmas no less. I am getting the message that my health is not their priority. Hence I am feeling discouraged, questioning their care and on top of this - not well at all ; - ( If I do not hear by Christmas next Friday it's a clear indication I need to move on.
