Thomas Truong's Online Review Report Card

My dad was a patient of Dr. Truong for a specific procedure that his cardiologist doesn't perform. Prior to the procedure Dr. Truong was very attentive. He called my dad and talked to him about the procedure and he met with him again the day of the procedure and answered his questions, etc. We both felt very good about about everything. The problem is, after the procedure he just disappeared and my dad has never heard from him again. The nurse told my dad that Dr. Truong was going to treat him with medication. He didn't tell him about the medications, how long he should take them, any side effects he may experience, etc. My dad was already on a blood thinner and apparently the 2 medications Dr. Truong prescribed are also blood thinners. No one discussed the risks of being on so much blood thinner medication. It's been almost 2 months and no one has ever followed up with my dad. They put him on heavy duty blood thinners and sent him on his way. They recommended a huge increase in another heart medication he was taking. It seemed unreasonable so I asked the nurse if it was right and he said yes. I took the information from the doctor to the pharmacy and asked if I was reading it correctly and they said yes. I still wasn't comfortable with the increase so i pressured my dad to call and verify the dosage. Turns out it was 3x the amount he needed. Even without the new blood thinners prescribed, the huge increase in dosage of the other medication with no follow up is nothing less than irresponsible. My dad called his regular cardiologist to follow up and he said he didn't need to see him for 6 months. Never asked about the procedure, the new medications, his well-being -- activities/exercise, diet, etc. So, he's on heavy duty blood thinners and no one is monitoring him, there doesn't seem to be any plan to follow up on the condition being treated with the heavy duty blood thinners or when/if he should discontinue taking the medications. The pharmacist was concerned about filling the prescriptions -- he said it was dangerous to be on such heavy duty blood thinners and my dad need to take precautions including having his coumadin levels tested often. My dad was already having his coumadin levels checked weekly -- it took awhile to get his levels right. It was startling when they changed so drastically from one visit to the next. My dad is 86 and feels like they have no regard for his life. He feels like they are just sending him from one doctor to another so he thinks they're trying to help him when they're just waiting for him to die.

I walked out of my appointment with Dr. Truong feeling more informed, relieved and truly looked after. He takes pride in his work, exudes joy and confidence and obviously still feels a passion for what he does. Thank you, Dr. T for taking care of hearts, you’re well suited for the gig! Highly recommend this cardiologist over anyone in the area.

Knowledgeable and cares for his patients

Dr. Truong is awesome. Very caring, knowledgeable, takes the time to listen.

Dr. Truong is honestly the best doctor I have ever encountered and I have seen A LOT of doctors. He takes the time to talk to you, tell you what's going on in a way you can understand. He listens to problems and concerns and addresses them perfectly. I wish there were more doctors like Dr. Truong out there. He truly is one of a kind and is amazing at what he does. I probably wouldn't be alive without him!

If you have to go to a cardiologist, he is the one. Actually cares and does not dismiss concerns as others have in the past for me. Has identified and treated issues that have been missed, and has done so with great compassion.

Dr. Truong treated me for a heart attack 2 months ago. He is very competent and thorough but most of all, he is a very compassionate, caring individual. He explains everything in terms that are understandable but does not sugar coat reality. I so appreciate his medical expertise and patience in helping me work through my recovery and understanding my personal responsibility in assuming necessary & ongoing life style changes. My words are not adequate in expressing my appreciation to Dr. Truong. He really is a blessing to his patients. Thank You, Dr. Truong.

Very good he takes the time to talk to you and has a very good bedside manner.

Dr. Truong is a wonderful doctor. He is always warm and welcoming, greeting you with a smile as he comes in the room. He is thorough, ordering tests just to be sure. I have a disabled son who is terrified of doctors and yet, from day one, they clicked. I have confidence is Dr.Truong and am feel lucky that he is here in Northern Nevada.

He took the time to explain the heart fully, so I can feel comfortable with the procedure I must face.
