Said he didn’t know why I was seeing him. He said it was too soon after the injury for him to do anything so it was a waste of time to have the appointment
Wouldn't let me leave zero stars. Went for hip pain had x-ray and MRA with pain injection, 3 months later pain was worse he told me to see a chiropractor, left his office crying. Made appointment with the bone and joint center brought my MRA results on a disc which showed a labrum tear and impingement. Having my surgery in 2 weeks. I would never recommend Dr Suslak he is awful probably never even looked at my scan just read the report which was wrong. Glad I got a second opinion
If I could give this doctor -100 stars I would. He is disrespectful, dismissive, and smug. He also had the audacity to downplay my lower back injury stated it was “just mild arthritis”. If he was a competent doctor he would have read the entire ct scan report that clearly states I have a large bulging disc in my lumbar spine. I dislike this doctor so much that I canceled all of my appointments with Ortho NY and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to avoid Ortho NY because of him.

Still have swelling at incision sites 6 months after surgery. Poor communication skills.
Dr Suslak treated me for a dislocated shoulder at Urgent Car Ortho NY. DR Suslak put my shoulder back in place while I was at Urgent Car. I have had three follow-up visits with the doctor and am extremely happy. He has answered all my questions and I never felt rushed in any way. Dr Suslak has been very polite and professional with every visit.
Best EXPERIENCE!!! Was having SEVERE Hip pain that was keeping me up every night, Hip was giving out at random times while walking. Saw Dr Suslak and he wanted an Arthrogram, found a Labral Tear had Surgery and having no issues since
Dr. Suslak treated our 16-year-old son after he sustained a bad injury whilst skiing. He had to reconstruct all his ligaments for his knee. He was kind, sympathetic, and explained each step so that we understood. We will forever be grateful to him for his help and time. Excellent surgeon and great bedside manner. We heartily and unequivocally recommend this doctor to all.
He was very short, rushed, arrogant and didn’t offer me a word edgewise. He told me what he would do as far as providing cortisone shots to hips and shoulders. As he was speaking and ready to leave I said “can I speak now” and I told him what I WANTED as far as treatment because he never once asked. (Last time I checked, I WAS all about ME) He then told me he didn’t have hours to wait for info he just requested because he has other patients. That’s when I left. I walked out of the room, told him i didn’t like what just happened in there and I was all set. I also told reception about his behavior and I’ll be calling Monday to speak to the site manager. I don’t need him, there are PLENTY of orthopedic dr’s in the area. I will not see a doctor that practices with that attitude. He is doing me no favors.
It was a waste of time. All 6 min he spent with me, he spoke and told me what he was going to do (not once asking me what treatment I wanted.) he told me I needed a note from my OB and then to come back. I asked if we could have it faxed considering technology these days, no need for another apt. His response? “I can’t wait around for hours, I have other patients” He was still talking and headed for the door and I asked if I could speak. I advised him that I should have been given pertinent info from reception regarding what I needed to bring to this apt when I booked the apt. He said the receptionist should all be fired. I was shocked so I told him they should probably be trained further and his response was “I’m more aggressive, i’d fire them all.” I’ll be calling the site manager tomorrow to let her know how my apt went and share my feedback. I have zero tolerance for arrogant impatient treatment like that. My time is just as valuable and I will be treated with respect.
Horrible doctor, sat down played with my knee for a minute, says if it bothers you will do an MRI in a few weeks. Told him I have a gentic issue which do es snt allow me to metabolize certain meds. He tells me he doesnt know about gentic stuff. Well doctor, gentic testing is science, the same thing you studied in medical school. So your ignorance baffles me and will seek a second opinion.
Dr. Suslak is an amazing surgeon. I am 5 weeks into recovering from a second hip arthroscopy to repair labral tears and a tendon issue. I feel fantastic, and I contribute it 100% to his knowledge and talent as a surgeon. He was thorough, supportive, and ultimately fixed a problem that has been plaguing me for quite a while. I would recommend Dr. Suslak to anyone who is looking for a true professional that delivers positive results.
I have had 2 arthroscopic hip surgeries with him and was very impressed by his knowledge, professionalism and polite manners. He is a very good listener and took excellent care of me pre - and post operative. He is my go-to OS and I trust him 100%.
I had hip pain for several months. X-rays and regular MRI imaging did not show anything. Three specialists - including Georgetown University professor orthopedic surgeon Brian G. Evans – failed to help me. Dr. Suslak examined me and diagnosed femoroacetabular impingement. MRI with contrast confirmed his diagnosis. Dr. Suslak offered arthroscopic surgery. He said that my left hip had signs of arthritis and the surgery may not eliminate the pain completely; for my right hip, he said, the probability of success is 90%. I opted to go ahead with the surgeries on both hips. Now, 6 years later, I can say that the surgeries helped me a lot, and I am grateful to Dr. Suslak. My right hip is completely pain free. My left problematic hip, the one Dr. Suslak warned me about, took longer than usual (1 year) to recover. This hip improved only moderately, but the surgery stopped the progression of arthritis and worsening of the pain.
I was 44 and had hip pain for several months. X-ray and regular MRI imaging did not show anything. Three specialists - a sports medicine and rehabilitation doctor, rheumatologist, and Georgetown University professor orthopedic surgeon Brian G. Evans - could not come up with a definite diagnosis. Dr. Suslak examined me and diagnosed femoroacetabular impingement. He sent me to do MRI with contrast, which confirmed his diagnosis. Dr. Suslak offered arthroscopic surgery. He was straightforward in his assessment: my left hip had signs of arthritis and the surgery may not eliminate the pain completely; for my right hip, he said, the probability of success is 90%. I opted to go ahead with the surgeries on both hips. Now, 6 years later, I can say that the surgeries helped me a lot. My right hip is completely pain free. My left problematic hip, the one Dr. Suslak warned me about, required an advanced arthroscopic procedure with removal of bone growth. It took longer than usual (1 year) to recover. But now this hip is in less pain and moderately (20-30%) better than 6 years ago, and, importantly, the surgery stopped the progression of arthritis and worsening of the pain. I an veery grateful to Dr. Suslak
Dr. Suslak did an amazing job on my daughters ACL repair. She was in high school at the time and is currently a college basketball player on a D1 level and was able to make full recovery!
Horrible. Very true and treated me poorly. Left the place crying. The only good thing is that he at least ordered an MRI on my knees to give me peace of mind.
One of the worst doctors I’ve ever had! I saw him for my knee pain, he gave me 2 minutes, I had to cry in order for him to get my an MRI. When he said he didn’t know what to do with me and to go to my primary care doctor, I asked what they could do for me. He says “I don’t know I’m not a primary care doctor...” utimately THE rudest doctor I’ve ever heard, maybe he feels the need to be a jerk because he’s so short. Do not see him! Didn’t even explain my Mri results to me!
I do not recommend this surgeon to anyone. He did a major hip surgery on me with ligament tears. No follow up care or discharge and 8 weeks into it had new tears ending up bed ridden on oxycodone around the clock to the point of the oxy almost leading me into suicide. Dr. Suslak stated he couldn’t help me when the surgery clearly failed and was not willing to find me a new surgeon along with denying me medical care or answering any of my questions. His medical care plan was oxycodone, bed ridden and a wheel chair at the age of 38. If you value your life don’t see this surgeon. He shouldn’t be practicing.
