excellent hip replacement surgeon. anterior procedure excellent, less complications and back up on feet so much quicker. have seen many success's of this doctor including my mother.
In 2018 Dr. Fletcher (OrthoNY) did my first knee in December of 2018, in August 2020 my 2nd knee was done which was delayed because of COVID. Dr.Fletcher gave me back my quality of life and I felt very comfortable with him from the start. He truly is an honest and caring individual and listens to and addresses all of your concerns. Unfortunately I started my journey in 2014 at the Bone & Joint Center and the doctors there told me basically "you are fat, lose weight and your knees will feel better." Yes, I am a bigger guy, I worked for years on a beer truck delivering and it beat me up pretty good. I'm not a sedentary guy at all but trying to exercise with 2 destroyed knees was not going to make the horrific pain go away, all I can say is the Bone & Joint Center's doctors have terrible bedside manners. I am so grateful for going to OrthoNY and meeting Dr.Fletcher, once the newest knee heels completely I'll be walking the dogs and walking with my wife.
Dr. Fletcher is a wonderful doctor and surgeon. He genuinely cares about his patients, and he takes the time to speak with you about your concerns. He replaced both my mother’s knees and her hip, and both of my knees. He was so wonderful with my mother, I’ll never forget it. I never even thought twice about him performing my two surgeries as well.
Almost two years ago, Dr Fletcher replaced my hip, indicating it waoul be a cakewalk. After surgery, I complained of numbness in my thigh from my hip ares to my knee. He dismissed it by saying it would go away in about a year. Well, it hasn't "gone away" and is now 23 months with a numb thigh. Kept waiting in waiting room to talk about it for 45 minutes. Not very considerate! I certainly would NOT recommend this butcher to anyone I liked!
Dr Fletcher was very thorough in explaining the surgery I eventually had. He took time to answers every question. I had the surgery a month ago and it has been a very positive experience. I have no regrets.
Dr Fletcher and PA Joe Krout are top notch. On our initial visit I felt an almost instant connection, deep and personal, as if Dr Fletcher were a blood relative.I am a physician myself and I know, after many years of practice, what it takes to be committed to serving each and every one of the many people who come for help. It is impossible without a total commitment and dedication to this calling. At the risk of overdoing it, I will conclude by sharing the joy of now being able to walk on my own two feet after more than 2 years of severe hip pain and being incapacitated. My entire family is medical including my wife who is now a retired nurse and I had a number of recommendations of superb surgeons in and around NYC. I have no regrets as at every level I was treated with the utmost professionalism.Thank you, Dr Fletcher and PA Joe Kraut for giving me a new hip and a new lease on life ! God bless you and your entire staff.M Galante, MD
<lochnd@gmail.com> 6:48 PM (26 minutes ago) to me I had Dr. Fletcher do total hip replacement. EVERYONE raved about him. My first visit, I had an imaging study that suggested some of my bone had died. I asked him about it, he kept saying, 'oh don't worry about it'. I asked 3 more x and then got very cranky and said he didn't know. (turns out he didn't know the answer but wasn't initially willing to say that) and told me "I'm the doctor and I ask the questions!". I'm guessing he's not fond of patients who take responsibility for their health and want information. He explained that the surgery was a breeze and showed me a short video of a patient he'd operated on hours earlier walking normally down the hall. I was not at all prepared, since he described it as cake walk. If I'd known what I'd feel like later, I would have taken 2 extra weeks off of work. He shared NONE of the possible consequences of the surgery. I was completely exhausted for 6 weeks and not very physically functional; I was very sore and it was difficult to find a position to get comfortable in. I walked nothing like the lucky gentleman he'd highlighted in his video. Afterwards, I had and still have 3 years later nerve damage from the incision down to my knee. When I was half asleep, he was standing by my bed speaking to another dr. and said I'd lost quite a bit of blood...he didn't know I was awake. He downplayed it when speaking to me suggesting I 'just take some iron '. Turns out I was so anemic I had to be admitted back to the hospital and given round the clock fluids. My level was one point above where I'd need a transfusion. He showed no concern whatsoever. I dreaded seeing him for followup, so I was able to see his PA, Joe Kraut who was wonderful!!!!! Joe was patient, unrushed, fully answered my q's and never acted like I was bothering him. Top notch guy. I would not recommend Dr. Fletcher. I initially saw him because I knew he did a fairly new and less invasive type of surgery and had a fantastic reputation. Get a second opinion.
I had first hip replaced with Dr Hedderman and the results were great!. I decided to have Fletcher do my second hip as it was from the anterior approach and Fletcher made it sound like a piece of cake. "Less pain, go home next day, no therapy. Well, day after surgery, my whole leg was numb, had a silver dollar blister on top of my foot, and worst of all after 13 months, my thigh from the incision site to my knee is still numb! Evidently in the process of doing sic hip surgery's that day, $$$, he cut a nerve. I'll have to live with it the rest of my life. after 12th month I made appointment to talk w/him about it and after 45 minutes in the waiting room, I got disgusted and walked out. Dr Fletcher seems to me to be more money oriented than he is patient orientated! I recommend Dr Hedderman.

Had my knee replaced this month. He’s the best! He takes the time to explain everything, is caring and a great surgeon.
Replaced both knee’s, quick recovery after surgery
Dr. Fletcher is the BEST Dr. that I have ever had for orthopedic problems! He has a great bedside manner, cares about his patients, doesn’t make you feel like a number (he is busy enough that you have to wait but he is worth waiting any amount of time). He listens to his patients & makes certain that he fully understands the injury, reads info provided, asks questions, orders x-rays (done in office) & honestly cares for the physical & emotional health of every patient.
Best orthopedic in NY love him very kind caring and explained everything.
Worst Doctor ever. After his surgery is over he is done with you. He didn’t give a damn how much pain I was in for almost 2 years post op. I wouldn’t let him operate on my doll
I had a total knee replacement in Feb 2017 performed by Dr Fletcher and his team. I could not be more pleased with the process and the results. I was up and walking(with a standard walker) within 2 hours after the surgery. I was walking without any assistance within 1 week and returned to playing golf week 10 following surgery. I would highly recommend Dr Fletcher and his team. One key recommendation be diligent following the Physical Therapy program.
Forgets your a human being after he died surgery on you
I was referred to Dr Fletcher a year ago after suffering for years. By the time I left my initial appt, I felt like we knew each other for 20 yrs vs 45 mins. He's replaced both my knees this year which has provided me with an actual lifestyle again. While I dislike waiting, my lengthy wait to see him on My appt day is trumped by how much time he provided to me so I understood everything, saw my before & after X-rays, etc.Dr. Fletcher us "The Man" in my view! He's worth any wait to see him, especially if you want the best for yourself & your family.
Dr. Fletcher is a good surgeon, as long as nothing goes wrong after the surgery. If it does, I suggest going to your primary, Doctor Fletcher only wants to see you if his work is perfect. Also, after surgery, you won't see Dr Fletcher again. You will see his PA. With all the great doctors out there, do your homework before you sign up for surgery.
Dr. FLETCHER IS PAID TO USE AND IMPLANT ConforMIS custom total and partial knee implants. His patients receive implants that are specifically made for them and their unique anatomy. ALSO THE PATIENTS GET A CT SCAN AND RECEIVE A LOT OF RADIATION ! REMEMBER THIS DOCTOR GETS PAID BY THE COMPANY TO USE AND IMPLANT THIS PRODUCT !
I had a failed hip replacement in 2011. The surgery was suppose to improve my quality of life. Instead ruined it. Muscle damage and I now walk with a cane for the rest of my life. I walked in the hospital for my surgery. Never needed a cane prior. Gave me codeine which I'm allergic to after my surgery. Caused me to pass out. Impact may have caused the muscle damage. All my paperwork clearly indicated codeine as number 1 allergy. To this day no direct answer for my disability. Dr Fletcher totally turned his back on me when unsuccessful except to say he did a perfect job. Arrogant. No reason only speculations as to why. Now have a new doctor who is trying to help me in regard to pain. Wouldn't recommend Fletcher at all. Anyone who did well with him was just lucky from my view.
