Dr. Katz did a total knee replacement for me 13 years ago. It changed my life because I was in a great deal of constant pain, which obviously affected every thing I did. I went to him again 7 years ago when I broke my leg. He took excellent care of my fracture, being very concerned that my replacement was o.k. (same leg) It was a long recuperation, but he was caring and thorough. Should I have another concern, I would return to him. By the way, he was referred to me by two people.
I h.ave had 6 total knee replacements performed by this Doctor. ALL FAILURES This is a bad Doctor. Do not use him
Dr Katz Is an excellent Doctor. A few years back he did an excellent job of diagnosing and treating my knee for pain until he successfully performed a knee scrapping procedure. He estimated I would need a Knee replacement a few years later and I think the time is near. I have complete confidence in Dr. Katz as the surgeon to call to perform this delicate surgery.
Dr. Katz is an amazing surgeon. He did a double knee replacement on me. It changed my life I working out and run again. You can barely see my scars...they are thin little white lines. I highly recommend him!
He's a butcher. Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I highly recommend Dr. Katz!! I had a total hip replacement and could not be happier with the results. My surgery was complicated because I had pins in my hip from a surgery done while I was in jr. high. Dr. Katz took time before the surgery to explain how he would deal with the pins and possible complications. He and his staff gave incredibly thorough preparation for the surgery through a 2 hour class and pre-surgery appointments. My case worker called me and checked up on me faithfully. Dr. Katz not only spoke to my husband post surgery, but came up to my hospital room after surgery so see how I was doing. He personally called me at home the night of the surgery. Following the surgery, my hip feels fantastic! I have had very little pain and have regained flexibility and motion that I never imagined would be possible. I am so grateful for the care I received! Dr. Katz is kind and caring and a very skilled surgeon! I give him my highest recommendation! He is excellent!
Dr. Katz replaced my knee 4 months ago. My recovery was slow and painful, but I am convinced it was due to my physiology and inability to take anti-inflammatory drugs. Physical therapy seemed to keep things in a painful holding pattern for me. I have to say that I feel Dr. Katz did a great job on the surgery. In contrast to the person who complained that Dr. Katz didn't provide adequate pain medication, he encouraged me to begin taking it again after I stopped very early on, as he knew I was having great difficulty sleeping. I am improving more and more each week. There is no silver bullet for our problems as we age, and each of our bodies is different and responds to surgery and healing in its own unique way. Dr. Katz and his staff, particularly his patient assistant Meegan, did very well by me and I would recommend them and use them again.
I cannot recommend an orthopedic surgeon who coldly leaves a patient in pain without adequate medication. There are other surgeons in the area who are known to actually be concerned about their patient's level of pain. Believe me, Richard Katz is not one of them. Maybe he has been practicing too long and has become uncaring because of it. Whatever the reason, he does not provide adequate pain relief.I had a total knee replacement, a surgery well known to be very painful. Richard Katz was not accessible by phone after I got home, and argued about the limited, inadequate pain medication that were provided. Night after sleepless night I cried in pain. Daytime was nightmare, too. My progress in physical therapy was significantly reduced once my pain was not addressed.Recovery did not have to be this way. I had a history of being able to manage opiods after surgery, so abuse was not an issue. I told him that and he did not care.I urge you to consider other surgeons who will take your pain seriously. Recovery from surgery is tough enough without adding unnecessary pain!
I had three visits with Dr. Katz recently for my Knee issue. He initially advised me to get X-Ray and Physical Therapy done on my knee, but since there was no progress with PT, he then asked me to go for MRI. According to Dr. Katz, both of X-RAY and MRI results were normal, but yet my knee issue was getting worse. In my last appointment with him, like all my previous appointments, he casually said that there is nothing that can be done to my Knee. What kind of Doctor would say that. This is a worst doctor I have ever met. He does not know what he was talking. I would NOT recommend him to anyone.
I had a great experience with Dr. Katz. Their office is very busy for a reason....they’re good! My primary doctor said X-ray showed I had arthritis in my hip causing my alignment to be off and give me pain when walking. Nope! Dr Katz reviewed X-ray and said I didn’t have arthritis but rather tendinitis. He gave me a cortisone shot and that was the first relief I’ve had in months! He was professional, courteous and very helpful. I highly recommend this practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
