Dr. Boyle is a fabulous orthopedic as well as a lovely human being. She was able to repair a hip replacement which had been done by another surgeon and in the same operation, she repaired my fractured femur. Throughout the whole experience she was always caring and available to answer any questions I had. She is tops, one of a kind!
I have had the misfortune of needing both knees replaced. But I was fortunate enough to find a great surgeon at UB Orthopedics to do the replacements. I then had the misfortune of needing a revision to one of my replacements. Again, I was fortune to find a skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate surgeon at UB Orthopedics to do the job. Dr. Kathryn Keely-Boyle performed the surgery and I can’t imagine a better outcome. I am less than three weeks out from my surgery and walking on my own with minimal pain. When the original replacement was done in 2009, I went to in-patient rehab for a week and then out-patient for six more weeks. My progress today is far in advance of that 12 years ago. Dr. Keely-Boyle informed me of the risks of the procedure, how she would accomplish it and what recovery might be. I was suitably impressed with her but was doubly impressed the morning of my surgery when the nursing staff spoke so glowingly of her and how pleasant and instructive she was with everyone at St. Joseph’s Hospital. You might find a surgeon as skilled as Dr. Keely-Boyle but if you don’t, do not hesitate to seek her out. She has been nothing but outstanding at every step of this procedure.
My visit to Dr. K. Keely Boyle's office was a good one. Everyone was polite and helpful. Dr. Boyle was great. She explained everything & answered all my questions.
Dr Boyle was very thorough, personable, and compassionate. I appreciated her knowledge and willingness to give me all the time I needed to understand the situation and ask questions. I am looking forward to working with her.
Awesome doctor
Dr. Boyle is a miracle worker!!! That is how me and my family refer to her. My knee replacement/reconstruction surgery was a very challenging case. I am physically disabled. I walk with a cane and limp due to a childhood illness. Over the years I developed arthritis, in my right knee (weaker side). My right knee was finally shot from the arthritis and wear/tear. I was walking with my right leg in permanent hyperextended . I was in chronic pain and was losing the mobility I had left. When Dr. Boyle performed my surgery, she gave me a new knee and a new lease on life. My right knee and leg is straight. I no longer walk hyperextended and am pain free. My mobility has gotten so much better and I am doing activities that I have not done in years. I owe my life to Dr. Boyle. She is an incredible surgeon and human being, with an amazing bedside manner. I am so grateful to her. I can’t recommend her enough as a surgeon.
Wonderful doctor who really cares
wonderful person...very compassionate, explains the way every one understands, great Dr...walking better with a lot less pain
I found Dr Boyle energetic, knowledgeable & personable. She answered all my questions relative to hip replacement surgery Very specifically and Very completely. I have rather more than your average lay-person’s understanding of medical issues given my related career and she exactly confirmed my own assessment of my situation and options. She appeared to genuinely understand my concerns and take seriously, and with real compassion, the level of pain and disability I’ve been living with.I believe Dr Boyle saw ME and not dollar signs as has Extremely regrettably been my previous experience with some surgeons.I felt encouraged after meeting with her and look forward to having a positive post operative outcome.
I had A TRK done and I have to say I was very scared, she came to see me right before surgery and answered all my questions, They took me in the operating room and her whole team were great too! Have to say it made it a easy decision on doing my other knee!! Thankyou Dr Boyle
I had a total hip replacement . Dr Boyle was the surgeon. She is a excellent surgen. It has been about 4 months since my surgery. I can honestly say I had no pain during the entire period. I am also much much better since the operation .If I need my other hip replace Dr Boyle is the surgeon I will seak out.It may not mean alot but I'll be turning 79 this year and I feel better now than I have in the last 5 years. Thanks Dr Boyle.
Dr. Boyle is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. I had a hip replacement that resulted in two septic infections before being referred to her office. When arriving in her care I was at death's door. She took the time to thoroughly review my case and present the best options moving forward to first clear the infection and then put me back together again. With communication between Dr. Boyle, myself and family members, she ensured that I was aware and understood all of my options before moving forward with a treatment plan. She took the time to answer any and all of my questions every step of the way. Dr. Boyle was in constant communication with me throughout the process; personal phone calls from her, her associates and office staff, making me feel as though I was the only patient in her care. She treats each patient as a person not just another number or case in her practice. Dr. Boyle is a very patinate individual and this shines through in the care and treatment that she provides. I would highly recommend her to anyone for hip or knee issues. In my book Dr. Boyle earns more than five stars!
Dr. Boyle was amazingly attentive, both during the pre-surgical diagnostic workup and the post-surgical follow-up. Like anyone else, I was worried about going "under the knife," but throughout the entire process, Dr. Boyle exuded so much competence and caring, answering every question in terms I could understand, that I started looking forward to the procedure--which, by the way, was precipitated by an unbelievable level of pain and discomfort in my hip. Less than four weeks later, the pain is entirely gone, and I walking around with a smile. I could not be more grateful or any happier with the outcome. Thank you, Dr. Boyle.
Dr. Boyle is engaging, thorough, and kind. She covers both the benefits and possible negative effects of surgery. I highly recommend her.
At first Dr Boyle seemed like a good surgeon, was decent enough to me and made me feel at ease for my scheduled hip surgery. Then day of surgery happened: get to the hospital, nurses getting me ready were great, dr comes and talks to me before surgery, then I overheard her talking to the staff. She was extremely rude. Egotistical and whiny. I don’t want to trust my life to someone like that. Then the surgery: wake up in recovery in excruciating pain, but my nurses tell me basically that Dr Boyle doesn’t allow her surgical patients to receive dilaudid, or any sufficient pain medicine while in the hospital recovery, or even overnight. Had my other hip done with another surgeon and both knees and I never had a problem with pain control in hospital recovery. It was so difficult to get my pain under control once I was discharged. It was the most AWFUL experience I have had with any surgeon/surgery. Don’t go to or bring any family to this sociopath.
i like this dr.
Dr. Boyle performed a hip resurfacing in December 2020 to treat my severe OA. 3 1/2 months later I am able to perform all physical activities pain free, with no limitations. Besides being a highly skilled and experienced orthopedic surgeon, she took the time to understand me as an individual to determine the best surgical method and post-operative PT to meet my goals -- which were to restore my prior level of physical activity, including running, with no restrictions. I am extremely happy with my results and if I ever need work done on my other hip (hopefully not!) I would not see anyone besides her. I highly recommend Dr. Boyle.
Having endured a number of surgeries due to an athletic and adventurous life style, I can say without question Dr. Boyle was the most thorough and professional, while still being empathetic towards my hip condition of any Surgeon I’ve ever worked with. She answered all of my questions, and suggested due to my lifestyle a hip resurfacing. It’s only been 2 days, but the structural integrity is already clearly evident. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone I know for any hip or knee issues, you couldn’t ask for a more dedicated professional, who is involved in even the most minute details regarding your surgery. Thank you Dr. Boyle
I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Boyle. She is a terrific and talented surgeon who utilizes the most up-to-date surgical techniques. I was impressed by the thorough clinical evaluation she did prior to my surgery and the fact that she contacted my specialists to determine the impact that my prescribed medications might have on my surgery. She performed a total hip replacement on me in November and I have regained all of my functional capacity, even improving it on some tasks. Her "bed-side" manner is characterized by compassion, empathy, and a down-to-earth communication style that enables her to educate her patients about the procedure(s) she is doing, medicines, and what to expect through the recuperation process. She was never condescending or rude, treating me with respect and regard. Dr. Boyle contacted me by phone, over a weekend, to check on my recovery immediately following surgery. She continues to "reach out" through text messages and encourages me to contact her with any questions or concerns using the same method. In speaking with physical therapists in both the hospital and out-patient clinic, and with operating room nurses at the hospital, I learned how much they appreciate the way she works with them, developing treatment plans and educating them around the rationale behind her surgical approach. To a person they described relationships with Dr. Boyle as being highly professional and marked by collegiality. I would recommend Dr. Boyle to anyone needing lower extremity care and surgery without reservation.
I just had surgery with another doctor at a local hospital and Dr Boyle was there that day. This doctor Boyle was recommended to my mother for her knee surgery. But after the way I heard her speak to the staff I won’t let my mother see her. She was completely rude and spoke as if she was better than the nurses and other staff there. If she cannot respect the people who are supposed to work along side of her I’m sure they don’t respect her. I would never want my mother in an operation where the staff and doctor don’t get along. And I would bet that if she was willing to be that nasty to the nurses in front of all of us patients, she must be a nightmare behind the closed doors of the operation room. How can someone so new into the medical field have such a chip on her shoulder? Maybe she needs to learn that you get more bees with honey. I had my mom call excelsior today for an appointment solely because of a doctors mean and nasty attitude. I’m sorry to anyone who has to work with this person and want the staff that I heard her speaking to to know they did a fantastic job, were friendly and kind, and super helpful, regardless what was said to you
