Went to City MD after taking a hard fall. They got me an appt. with Dr. Michael Lastihenos within hours. I had intense elbow pain and was hesitant because I'd never been to an orthopedic doctor . As soon as he walked into the room I felt relief. Had a really pleasant personality and a sincere smile that put me immediately at ease. I found out I have a fractured elbow and the brace that was put on took away most of the pain. I feel I'm in good hands and looking forward to my follow-up. The office staff , techs and his PA were all great also.
I am seeing Dr. Lastihenos for a knee injury. Wait time is always short and he patiently answers all of my questions. I am quite happy with his diagnosis and treatment plan.
Went to Dr. Lastihenos with what I thought was just an Achilles sprain but turned out to be a complete tear of the Achilles tendon. Surgery was scheduled quickly. It took a while and my body rejected some of the sutures but with that knowledge it has all healed extremely well. I have mobility - I can walk (never could run) no pain. Very pleased with the staff and the Dr. with all the explanations and assistance.
if you over 40, don't let his comments discourage you about " your not 20 anymore " or cut back on your exercise etc. Its not only unprofessional and rude, but its actually medically incorrect. Obviously he is losing his bedside manners.
I went to Dr Lastihenous Dec 2018. I was an advisor runner told him I had pain only when running. Mri confirmed a meniscus tear and he encouraged me to have it repaired at his clinic in Melville. “ Simple repair and clean up of some arthritis”he said. “We’ll get you running again” The day after the surgery the pain was uncontrollable. I went back to his office crying in pain where they kept me in a wheelchair crying in front of all the other people in the waiting room to be seen. The pain subsided after a few days but never went away fully. He gave me cortisone shots x 2, gel injections x 3. And each office visit he was in such a rush it was upsetting. Anyway a year later I walk with a limp and now need a total knee replacement and developed a ganglion cyst from the trauma. Pls keep in mind I was running 6 miles just up until this meniscus tear. I would NOT NOT NOT recommend him!!!
Dr Lastihenos took care of my daughter after a gymnastics injury to her knee. He was able to treat her with bracing and therapy, avoiding surgery which he did not feel was needed. She did very well and has since returned to all activities without any problems.
Three stars because Dr. Lastihenos is a great dr. But his office staff is nothing short of horrible. There is always an attitude over the phone. It took me 2 months to get a script for my MRI and I couldn't get anyone to call me back to tell me what the hold up was. One day I just showed up in the office and said I need to know what's going on and they miraculously produced my MRI script. After this all happened I was venting my frustrations with some friends who went to the same dr and they all had similar issues.
Excellent Orthopedic, great bedside manner. He referred me to an excellent specialist for my leg and she is super! Wait time was minimal. The PA that first saw me was excellent. She was professional and knowledgeable! Understanding and caring.
Had surgery on my right knee and was better than new in 3 weeks. Everything went just as doctor said it would from surgery to recovery time.
Excellent physician!! I would definitely recommend him to both my family and friends!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
