List of South Shore University Hospital's Reviews
Finally a hospital to care for its patients. Had a medical episode that could've actually killed me. But with the staff here, I survived and was treated very quickly. All within 3 hours.
Had a fainting episode and knocked my teeth out and lacerated lower lip. Lip didn't look right so I went back and they told me it was infected to take antibiotics and it will be fine. Stitched the inside of my mouth wrong there are permanent bumps and doctor referred me to dermatologist for the lip because it looks so bad. Have the appointment tomy. I don't know what this hospital did to me. I never been so scared in my life.
Denise from labor and delivery registration is absolutely horrible, she was rude and nasty. For someone to come in there in pain and labor she stop Doing was she was suppose to do to yell at our family member because she asked her to get a wheelchair. She is suppose to be a professional who keeps pregnant women calm and relax and did the absolute opposite! She should not be working at this hosptial. Especially as someone’s first contact in a very stressful moment. I want her apologize and her gone from this place. I will write to higher ups as well. She also refused to give us her name and avoided us after. It’s policy to give your. And when asked. I am waiting for some action to happen with her. Worst, unprofessional, Unpleasant and bitter person to have working in a labor unit
Unfortunately, the hospital is not equipped with competent individuals. Was completely overcharged for sitting in the ER for hours without resolving the health issue. Had to see another doctor at a different place, who fixed the issue. If you have a health issue do not go to Southside because when you call they will be unprofessional and rude on their “customer support.”
Husband is in there now and getting amazing care.
I was just there last night from 9/21/23 11pm- 9/22/23 4am. Marisa in super track was not the friendliest to say the least. I explained to her how my veins are since I've been hospitalized so many times I know them well. She got the IV in and kept pulling it out and pushing back in (just the catheter at this point as she already retracted the needle) just til the point we couldn't use the line anymore. I was supposed to be going for a CT scan with contrast which requires an IV line. They decided not to do it or the CT scan. Then she got me a Percocet and an hour later comes back and says I'm being released with no diagnosis and so I said "I drive here. It's safe for me to leave even after you have me a Percocet?" She was like "you can drive yourself back. You'll be fine" which I know is illegal to do because if I got pulled over while having it in my system I'd catch a case. The whole experience was just not a good one. I only ever had 1 good visit there but it's the closest hospital to me. I'm just going to have to hike up to Stonybrook from now on. She should be reported for encouraging me to drive while on a scheduled CII. If you can avoid going here, do yourself the favor and if you get her as a nurse request a different one. She's short with black or extremely dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Only utilize their ER service if you want to be neglected. The ER crew is only there for a paycheck, and does not care for the wellbeing of their patients. How do I know this? My family member was suffering from a neurological episode and he was shoved onto the gurney, while the ER team handled him roughly. Seriously didn't believe I would see my family member again and ER care was below satisfactory. Drive the extra 30 minutes to Stony Brook and don't risk your life at South Shore.
THE MOST HONEST RESPONSE. I rarely write reviews. The people that work here are amateur STUDENTS. If you have an emergency don’t come here. I came here cause I was having chest pain. Everything was going well until the blood test part. The nurse did not know how to take blood and jabbed me 3 times causing a bruise. And both my arms being bandaged up. After I wait an hour for the results and guess what ANOTHER nurse comes and says that we need more blood and that I would have to wait an ADDITIONAL hour and guess what? She also missed 3 times. Right after she takes it and leaves the doctor shows up saying “you’re good to go your blood test was good” so not only was more blood taken for no reason leaving me with both of my arms covered in bandages they dismissed me without any advice or reason of my pain. Not even an addiontal test such as a CT scan to make sure. Blood clots are no the only worries some thing for the heart! Their was also unprofessional nurses walking around saying “I can’t do this anymore” BE AWARE AND DO NOT COME HERE IM SAVING U TIME!
Some guy pee they didn’t clean it well it took them 30 mins to get some one to clean it the smell got so bad my lip inflated and they yell at elders and treat them like animals
The nurse was bad never came over to my er bed

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
