List of Rena Sue Brand's Reviews
After my annual visit with Dr. Brand that I felt was extremely rushed and my concerns disregarded, I decided to visit a new dermatologist who did 4 biopsies of which one was basil cell, another was squeamish cell. Who knows what would have happened if I had waited another year to see Dr. Brand. I definitely do not recommend her for her lack of concern and knowledge.
Unprofessional, inexpert and unkind. Gouged a hole in my face and left me with a big scar forever. Stay away!
Dr. Brand is very professional and a caring Doctor. Dr. Brand and her staff are extremely thorough and courteous.
This doctor was unpleasant and adversarial and left me with a giant scar on my face after she gouged out a keratosis. Find another dermatologist.
doesn't spend enough time with her patients. I'm seeing another dermatologist who is very caring, even called to tell me not to be nervous with my scheduled appointment with him.
I should have listened to the reviews. First time I was there I waited 45 mins. I chalked it up to being my first visit. Okay fine. This time I called to confirm my appt and they told me I didn't schedule one. I explained I had the appt card and it was in my phone. After some back and forth with the receptionist, she told me to arrive early and they would take me. I waited an hour and 15 minutes for dr brand to see me! Another patient came in and said she was in a rush and they took her next and her appt scheduled was 35 mins after mine! The 2 receptionist are rude and curse the entire time I was waiting there. I counted 13 patients that came after me and left before me. I couldn't believe how unprofessional they were in there. After I finally saw the dr. she took about 30 seconds to tell me she wants to continue using the same antibiotic and see what happens in another month. She told me the rash is caused from sleeping and eating. I cant be the only person in the world that needs to sleep and eat..... She then had the nurse write down what i currently use for it and the nurse didn't know what cortisone was? I could not believe i wasted over an hour for a 35 second (at most) appoint DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.
I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Brand. After a couple of visits to other dermatologists who seemed practically horrified by my complicated eczema, finding Dr. Brand was a blessing. She was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely caring. Incredibly prompt and personal follow-up as well. Super relieved to have found a doctor whose knowledge and judgment I definitely trust. She is well worth the wait, and happy that I don't have to keep searching for a new dermatologist anymore.
I found Dr. Brand over 20 years ago after a number of dermatologists failed to properly diagnose my rosacea. She figured it out and worked with me to find the optimal treatment. Subsequently, over the years, she identified and treated several pre-cancerous and carcinomic spots on my body and face - two of which resulted in the need for Mohs procedures, which were expertly performed by Dr. Pauporte in the office. Through all this, I have felt that Dr. Brand has been a truly caring partner, as have the rest of the doctors and staff in the office of Murray Hill Dermatology. She is direct and to the point, which can seem hurried & brusque to some, but after many years in her care, I trust her and her judgement implicitly. A few years ago, I had to move to a different city, and so far haven’t had any luck finding a dermatologist who can fill her shoes - I’m actually considering to return to NYC to continue under her care - that’s how much I trust and respect her.
Stay away! Ms. Brand and her staff is completely incompetent. You are likely to receive better medical help from the cashier at your nearest corner deli than from Ms. Brand and her staff.
My impression of Dr Brand is that she is an absolutely phenomenal doctor. I am absolutely confident in her knowledge and professionalism. I was having a skin problem that wasn't being diagnosed correctly at my dermatologists office in Brooklyn and had persisted for 4 months. I had gone to that office in Brooklyn twice, and was seen each time by an NP who took a real nonchalant approach - making the problem worse. I then went to a skin infection specialist in the city who quickly called Dr Brand and had me walk over to her office. She is an absolute SPECIALIST. I dropped by the office and it was not busy. Perhaps 4 people in 30 minutes. I filled out some paperwork and was called in and seen by a nurse named Jessica (a very capable professional) who took a history. Dr Brand also took a more detailed history, physical exam, pictures, two different cultures AND a biopsy! At some other dermatologists office it might have taken 6 months to accomplish all of this! She was absolutely professional and highly capable and precise when it came to each procedure. She even tried very hard to get in touch with the physician who had just referred me to her. Talk about sharing knowledge and communication! I truly believe that Dr Brand cares for her patients well-being. Simultaneously professional and quite pleasant, she made me feel valued. Higly experienced, she somehow knew that my insurance wouldn't pay for a particular medicine and provided me with samples of the medicine instead. She even provided over the counter products that I needed, saving me from hunting them down in the city. I will be back in a week to see her but I am finally feeling like this problem is in capable hands.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
