Dr. Metcalf installed Harrington rods when I broke my back at L2 vertebrae, he was assisted by Dr. Adams he was in Columbus GA at the time. I was 39 years old and am now 69 years old, so I would say he and Dr. Adams was the best, and I'm sure Dr. Metcalf still is. I would love to find out if any old , maybe scanned records still exist of that procedure... Best Regards, Thomas J Brown Jr

The most unprofessional doctor I have ever met. He was aware that I went to him for a second opinion and it was evident as he started the the appointment with," I understand I am your second opinion." He was rude, arrogant and referred to other surgeons in his field as ( Boys ). I left with more questions then I had when I arrived and it seemed as if he turned his nose to me because I didn't see him initially. I was warned prior to going to him and I should have listened. Wasted 2 hours of life.

I went Dr. Metcalf as a second opinion. I found him to be very straight forward about benefits and risks of recommended surgery. He explained procedure and answered questions. He and his entire staff are both professional and compassionate. Surgery was less than 3 weeks ago. Everything going as explained. I had one issue and called the office. The PA, Erica, called back in 5 minutes and gave explanation of problem and called in appropriate medication.

i recently had a major spine surgery performed by metcalf and would not recommend anyone to him. ever. he was nice until the surgery was complete. it took him over an hour to approve pain medication as i laid in the recovery room sobbing. my pain medication (absolute minimum dose) required a refill just 2 days later. it took him 5 days to refill it. agony. pure agony. save yourself the poor treatment and get a different doctor. one that cares...

Dr. Metcalf removed a Cyst that was pressing against my Nerve near L3-4. His seems very knowledgeable and skilled. Metcalf gives you the information he thinks you need and probably is the only information you need, but as a patient you would like a little reassurance.
