I have not had the chance to meet Dr Meehan so I have no direct view about him. My concern is his employees they are very discriminatory and best described as racist. Below is my detailed experience.I was referred to the facility by my doctor for eye examination immediately I got to the receptionist she asked for my insurance I gave it to her and she said she has never seen the New York State employee insurance. So she said she doesn’t think it’s acceptable at the facility. I asked her if she can please check on her system and she said she doesn’t have a capacity to check that and asked me to walk out and call my insurance to verify before she can proceed. I went out and returned after verifying that the Binghamton eye associates is a provider for my insurance. She now told me she is going to check and verify if it’s allowed because she has never seen it. She went in and came back in about 5 minutes. I therefore registered my displeasure about her action and told her it’s not fair that she could check it but asked me to go out and make calls then I come back and she decided to check that is really quite weird. Then she immediately handed my insurance to me and asked me to go to another provider and that I am giving her hard time. I calmly decided to explain to her that I was just expressing an opinion of her actions she immediately called the police and told them I refused to leave. That is the best form of clear cut discrimination I have ever seen. Maybe because I am a student? I am black ? Or have a Muslim name? I am quite confused.
