Dr. Stephen is director of spine surgery at Orlin and Cohen after being a surgeon at Stony Brook Hospital for years. Did his residency in Orthopedics at Stony Brook and a fellowship in spine surgery and instrumentation at Stony Brook University Medical Center. I had a spinal emergency snd was unable to walk. I went to Stony Brook and asked for him. He was not on call yet his resident called him and he came within minutes, gave me an MRI and I had emergency surgery within hours. Then he sent me to physical rehabilitation and 3 weeks later I walked out alone. No assistance or devices. THE BEST. I still follow up every 3-6 months due to other spine issues. He is professional, knowledgeable, friendly, listens and shows your results on his computer while explaining your symptoms and issues. Very smart snd takes as much time you need, answers your questions truthfully and has spot on with current information, diagnosis and treatments whether bad or good outcomes. I will be a patient forever

Staff at reception was very rude. The doctor acted like I was bothering him, and basically told me he didn’t know what could be causing my back pain and couldn’t help me.

I just started my PT at Cohen and Orlin. They are very professional, accommodating, and it has been very convenient to schedule appointments. My PT, Jordan, has been great to work with and answers my questions and addresses my concerns. I would also like to thank Dr. Stephen. I had researched before I made my appointment, since I am new to Long Island and he came up with excellent reviews. He explained to me the issues that I was having with my back. I’m hoping that the PT he recommended will help relieve some of the pain that I am having.

We were vey impress with Dr. Mark Stephen. He listen patiently to all my concerns and fears and showed empathy and understanding toward my medical condition. He has compassion for his ill patients and get to the root of the problem taking his time to explain the situation and gives you the options. He does not rush and makes you feel comfortable. I have seen Dr. Stephen and Dr. Pallotta and have been very happy with the care. Both have been very knowledgeable and caring. I particularly appreciate their understanding regarding my COVID concerns, considering how hard the virus has been on my family.

I was diagnosed with DDS I had two surgeries back in 2014 and 2015 my spinal fusion with hardware level's S1to LE so I was referred to another doctor who supposedly had a good reputation, and told me that he had to take all the hardware out because the next level L4 was collapsing .My nephew who worked with Dr Stevens in the operating room told me to go to Dr Stevens Who also operated on my sister-in-law and my nephew. When I explained to Dr Stevens with the other doctor said Dr Steven said absolutely not just add to the existing surgery but there's the other doctor I would have had to fuse all over again I would not trust anybody else but Dr Stevens on my back

Dr. M. Stephen is a wonderful doctor and has performed many spinal surgeries on my spine. He is the only one I trust and am currently under his care again. The staff was very friendly and kind.

I have been a patient of Dr.Stephens since 2007.He is the best!!I've had several surgeries by him and would NEVER have had another surgeon!!He is patient,and shows how much he cares.I give him 10 stars!!
