List of Atria Riverdale's Reviews
My overall rating for Atria Riverdale since i have moved in will be a 4. I would like to highlight Merrill Martin and give her 5 stars for support and hospitality. I would also like to highlight Shenika Martin-Smith, giving her 5 stars as well for her constant support, her ability to make me feel comfortable and her kindness. I would like to hightlight Cherchill who was here during my time of need! Also, Valarie Morales for her comfort and her energy, and especially Ed and Robert who have helped with my meals. Kimberly Bennet the housekeeping director is always responsive and she takes walks with me motivating me while I exercise. They all make me feel like I am apart of a family.
I’ve recently toured atria Riverdale and i loved the experience! the front desk was super welcoming and very helpful. As you step inside, you’re greeted not just by a well-kept environment but by the embrace of a caring community. I recently made the hesitant decision to place my grandmother into the care of a facility, and I don’t regret it at all! The staff, with their kind smiles and gentle assistance, provide not just care but companionship.
As someone on the market for mom, there are red flags. Why aren't any photos of the residents in this place ? We're these photos taken after construction years ago ? What makes a place bad are the people. I would like to tour this place at its darkest hour which is mealtime. There you can see the processed food that is served and the behavior of the residents will become apparent. Sure it's clean but show me the residents and let me speak to them and I will tell you what this place is really about. The other red flag in question is who are really writing these reviews ? Management? Something to think about.
Memory Care at this facility was a horrible experience. My mother has dementia and was a resident there for 8 months. The first 3-4 months went ok, and then 1) My mother gained 25 lbs in a few weeks bc MC patients never receive adequate exercise. 2) The staff never tidied the room: my mother was hoarding papers and magazines (a fire hazard) and they were not checking to see which disposable underwear was clean as she had a tendency to put them in her dresser, i.e. not always clear which had been worn. When I raised the issue w/3rd floor caregivers, they simply said they hadn’t time. So they are understaffed and every visit I had to spend 20 minutes doing their job. 3) Even though I granted permission for my mom to go to the hair salon, management never responded when I asked if her hair was washed regularly; it wasn’t (as I found out upon moving her to a superior facility and she had painful tangles the likes of which she never had in her life. 4) She was briefly hospitalized and they foolishly let her take her expensive eye and sunglasses, and her not inexpensive purse to hospital…and they were never seem again. NO ONE took responsibility or offered any compensation even tho it was clearly their fault. 5)The final straw was was when the short-term companion I hired to visit while I was out of town rang me to report the 3rd floor staff had been extremely rude when she escorted my mother to look out a secured window. She was quite upset and told me she thought the dementia residents were treated like prisoners; I concur. After that, I flew home early and had my mom in a much better care home within 1 week!’ That is how dreadful the Atria Riverdale was. AVOID AVOID AVOID if your loved one requires memory care!!
Michael Flores was incredibly helpful to my family. For several months he worked with myself and my children, guiding us through the unfathomable process of preparing my wife to transfer from living at home to a full care facility. Michael was willing and available to answer any questions that came up along the way. He was always quick to respond and handled our needs with care and generosity. Our family is grateful for the time, information , and comfort that Michael offered to my family during this difficult time.
I do not recommend Atria. Management is not responsive, and service is not good.j
My mom entered at the tail end of Covid and we had had excellent experience with another Atria. This was May of 2021. It was a Lovely facility but dealing with Covid challenges that also included some staffing challenges. Over the past year and a half, this facility has blossomed under the new direction of Lauren Palladino. The place has an energy as soon as you walk through the doors. Valerie and her staff are amazing with a choice of activities that would exhaust a young person. The guest artists are all top notch! From Bingo to ice cream socials to Exercise with Jerome to great movie choices 3x a day ( popcorn included!) to guest speakers, jewelry making and more, the staff is compassionate and like family. You can have a beautiful facility anywhere but in the end, it’s all about the people. I mentioned a few but honestly, they are all great. We, as a family are very happy. Our mom is very safe and happy too. Jenny and Priscilla Wallack
I volunteered there over 15 year's ago, & enjoyed it very much. I could see they took good care of the people living there. 🙂
I would not recommend this place even if my loved one can care for him or herself. My mother who had Dementia was a resident and within two month’s she sustained a fall and had to be hospitalized. She was often left numerous times wandering or would be sitting soiled with urine soaked diapers! and without bathing or clean clothes!! It was only when I started to visit her every day that they would shower my mom and act like they were doing their job! The staff before was way better than the staff they so call have now director Lauren and assist director Deirdre are awful!! They don’t attend to the needs of the residents it’s all about the money and forget wellness they don’t do nothing ! How many times my mother complained and cherchill and shenika Martin did nothing! They don’t need to be operating at all! Do not bring your loved one’s to this facility.
I’ve found the staff here to be very friendly, welcoming, caring and kind. My first impressions and contact with the staff have all been positive!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
