List of Achiamah Osei Tutu Md's Reviews
She is very knowledgeable, professional and has a good bedside manner. She clearly is an expert in her field and I grateful to have her as a part of medical team. I would recommend her to my family and friends as I trust her expertise and will continue to work with her.
I wanted a black doctor due to the special consideration needed to transplant black hair. I live in another state and wanted a consultation with the doctor for a hair transplant. I was met with staff who were not accommodating about my needing to fly in from another state, stay in a hotel and to coordinate follow up appointments. They were very dismissive, unfriendly and unprofessional in manner. They clearly don’t need my business. I’m very concerned about the quality of care I will get from this practice. As a health care professionals a doctors staff is a reflection of how THE doctor wants their patients to be treated while under their care. So the search goes on. I would give a zero if possible.
This dermatologist made my condition worse despite over a year of treatment. She is unprofessional and blame the patient for her failed treatments. She recommends products to worsen your condition so you can keep coming back for service. Do not and I repeat do not go to this dermatologist, you will regret it.
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Osei-Tutu. I just wish I had gone to see her sooner.
Dr Osei-Tutu provided a comprehensive evaluation and explained everything clearly and with sensitivity. I would recommend her highly
Dr Osei-Tutu provided outstanding care in a sensitive and caring manner. I am so glad I went to her
Her bedside manner is wonderful. She is knowledgeable and precise in how she approaches treatment. I appreciate that she starts treatment slowly and based on treatment response will move up the ladder of treatment options from least invasive with few potential side effects to more invasive with higher potential for side effects. Her staff is friendly, professional, and attentive. She utilizes a communication system that allows patients to communicate with the office 24/7. No more waiting until the office is open to hopefully speak to a staff member for an appointment, ask a question, or request a refill.
My family and I have been coming to Dr. Osei-Tutu for many moons since 2013 and recently as of today 02/17/2020 , my mom arrives to the brooklyn location at 3:45pm for a 4pm appt and she is told the appointment was cancelled. This appointment was made 3 weeks in advance and my mothers contact information was completely updated at that time since it had been over a year since she was last seen. The receptionist stated that the appt was given to someone else when they couldn't reach my mom, again they had the wrong information. An appt was offered not for what she had but for another random day, not convenient for her. Although Dr. Osei-Tutu is a great physician, her staff is trash, I've lost so much respect this practice and how every time there is some bullsh*t to deal with when scheduling at that office. I very much wanted to cuss some people out at that office due to the way my mother was handled and discarded when it was not an error on her part. I've tried since 2015 to continue to support a black physician in practice but this is the 3rd time this has happened to my family and I am tired of giving black business my time and insurance when they treat people like this. Please, anyone going to her office, beware the staff is garbage and they will look so lost when they do you wrong and you put them in their place about it. If I could give zero stars I would. The staff is a big reflection of the physician and once upon a time her sister in law who worked there laughed in my face when I traveled all the way from manhattan to their brooklyn office for a confirmed appt, only for no one to be there. If I didn't yell at that ingrate, I would have never gotten a call back from the doctor herself. Fu*king disgusting. I could go on and on but seriously, beware.
I saw Dr Osei-Tutu due to the CCCA symptoms I started having. She was very informative and had a number of suggestions and options for me.
I found out about Dr. Osei via Instagram. I noticed that she kept popping up when I starting looking for a Dermatologist who specialized in natural hair for women of color. I loved the fact that she wore her hair naturally as well. My first visit was for a Consultation at the Brooklyn Office. Don't get put off by the long wait for an appointment. You can wait forever to be close to Brooklyn or you could get an earlier appointment in Long Island. The fee was $250 and she was very attentive, direct and detailed. My intention was to get a PRP procedure. After analyzing my hair she said it would be ineffective and a waste of money. I kind of knew that but had hopes that a miracle would occur between the research I conducted online and my visit to the office. I agreed to hair transplant surgery. The realistic option. This surgery required a strip of hair to be removed from the back of my head and each hair would be injected into the thin areas. The goal is to plant "new seeds." I didn't have high expectations. A little peach fuzz would suffice. The details on how to prep for the procedure were outlined and EXTENSIVE blood-work was required. I thought i would need a transfusion after I saw the viles of blood taken! There are a list of prescriptions you have to fill before your surgery date. DON'T wait until the last minute. You have to bring them with you. I arrived at 6am for the surgery, and I have to say I was impressed with the punctuality and the customer service of the staff. Britney and another girl ( forgot her name) were the two people who prepped me. They were funny and SUPER sweet. Dr Osei was motivated and energetic when she arrived. She looks really young but don't be fooled. She's sharp and regimented! The two additional Hair Techs were flown out to NY from Florida to assist. Dr Osei is very particular about who works on her clients. While you are going through each round of anesthesia, cutting, prepping, etc you are given the option of your favorite music selection. movie and snack/lunch options. Yes thats included in the price. I never felt rushed. everything was explained to me prior to it happening. It was almost a painless procedure. They worked from 6:15am-5pm. Yup it was a super long day. But I was able to check emails, watch a show, read a book and make phone calls throughout the procedure. No worries if your'e not a social media person, you cant chat with the staff. Every 15 minutes or so the staff and the Dr. asked me if I was ok or needed anything. I felt like I had five husbands for a day. If real life was that good!. Sorry I digressed a little....Ok the end.... Once your procedure is over, you're brought to a recovery room and given DETAILED instructions on how to take your post op medications/clean the wound. Healing time is around two weeks. Ill update this post with before and after pics once the hair grows in.If i could give this office TEN STARS I would.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
