Downtown Pain Physicians Of Brooklyn's Online Review Report Card

This doctor's office is a scam. They are listed as being in-network with my insurance, United Healthcare, and told me I was covered, but it turns out I am not covered. My insurance has opened an investigation into them.

My experience with billing department is extremely high quality. Sharon is a sweetheart and I never had any issues. Always truthful and knowledgeable. She knows what she is doing. Sharon has been working as a biller for years ( our paths crossed in her previous job- unfortunately doctor closed his practice). I was thrilled when I’ve learned that Sharon is working in this office. I’m a huge fan of her. Funny, positive always. Never said anything that she didn’t know. Unfortunately most insurances now they refuse to pay to the doctors. And they always blame the doctor being out of network. It happened to me, but Sharon resolved that easily. I have known these group for several years. Never had any issues with the doctor, staff or billing department. Always polite and professional. Highly recommend to see them for any pain problems. Very helpful

Notice how all the negative reviews are about the billing…they are taking advantage of desperate people to commit genuine billing fraud. Lied to me about being in network, told me they could accept an exorbitant co-pay to give me an injection that day and then “submit it to insurance after.” I agreed bc I was desperate and in pain. Next thing I know my insurance is telling me they aren’t in network at all and I owe them thousands of dollars. Despite the fact that they took my expensive co-pay claiming I’d be otherwise covered. I didn’t understand how this could be possible and only later learned it is a common scam and legitimate medical fraud. They do it on purpose to get money out of people desperate enough to hand it over without asking too many questions.

I really don’t know where to begin here. I will start with Dr. Kapadia first. I arrived in March 2026 in so much cervical spine pain. He took me under his caring wing and in just a few short months helped stop my my pain and increased my physical and mental strength in a way I did not think was possible. Dr Moses is frankly a gem of a provider. She provided me with several pain management interventions that improved the quality of my life and kept me going with the rigors of PT. She encouraged me to see Dr Weintraub when it was clear I needed a surgical intervention . Without the support of both Dr Moses and Dr Kapadia I honestly would not be here today living a pain free life! Please go see them they will turn your life around in the best way possible! The doctors are great, however the billing is misleading. The website claims they are in-network with BCBS but they bill out of network and I was told on the phone they are out of network. I suspect they are trying to exploit the loopholes introduced by the No surprise billing act. It's shady. EDIT: The doctor you see is in-network but the practice is not. So they will mislead you into thinking you'll only pay a small in-network copay but then bill as the practice. EDIT: One of the reviews below is from the billing manager..

Re-reviewing after receiving a fresh $300+ bill, full experience below: 1. Schedule epidural, goes fine 2. They offer PT, I am reluctant, they ensure 1:1 sessions 3. Sessions are not 1:1, very basic and impersonal 4. They misschedule my second appointment. I miss it. 5. They misschedule my make-up appointment, I have to call and fix it. They offer to comp my session. 6. My second appointment the PT places stim on my upper back (I'm having lower back problems). PT tells me to do bird dogs (I told them I can't, they're too painful). 7. They offer to schedule a 3rd appt. I decline because I'm travelling. 8. They schedule it anyway. 9. I cancel it. And now I receive a bill in the mail for physical therapy! Itemized bills for the stim work and many other "services" that weren't mentioned to me as potential personal expenses. Especially frustrating after they insisted my second session was FREE because of the constant scheduling issues. If you are dealing with significant back issues or are worried about finances BE CAREFUL. All I wanted was a path to healing my back and because of Downtown Pain instead I'm left jaded and owing money for stuff I didn't ask for.

Top notch service - I really felt listened to. Also, I was able to easily schedule my visit quickly - and get what I needed quickly. Most importantly, I’m feeling a whole lot better thanks to my visits with the excellent doctor (Annie Layno-Moses for me), and helpful staff.

Had a really good experience with Dr Kapadia, as I rehabbed a rotator cuff injury. Him and his (wonderful) assistant were always attentive and our sessions were productive. He also provided very precise answers to all my questions.
