List of Dr Mitchell S Seidman's Reviews
OVERBILLING: this doctor billed our insurance incorrectly, claiming an "in-depth" "specialist" exam rather than the routine annual exam performed. This was not disclosed upfront and when I called to attempt to sort it out I got nothing but argument. Now I am stuck with this improper bill for a routine exam that my insurance is supposed to cover. Not right.
Dr. Mitchell Seidman has been my doctor for many years. I trust his expertise and his judgment. He detected eye injuries that I had forgotten. When I had shingles that I thought was an eye infection, he made the diagnosis that my ENT failed to detect. He's now transitioning to retirement so I see his daughter, Carly. She seems quite competent. I wish I could still see Dr. Mitchell, though. He's the best!
Made an appointment for last month specifically to update my prescription for new contacts, and glasses. Office staff I made appointment with knew this, we were in frequent contact before the scheduled date because they had no idea what the appointment would cost me, couldn't even give me an estimate. Doctor refused, REFUSED, to update my contacts lenses prescription, even though I knew before coming in, and he could tell from the examination, that my near sightedness had worsened. He would not, I repeat, point blank, told me he would NOT give me an updated prescription. Not for a different brand or kind of lenses, and not for the brand and type I currently used. Even though he did so on my previous appointment. Absolutely preposterous. Claimed "they don't fit contact lenses". I could not see what that had to do with at least updating my prescription for my current lenses, and when I asked he just argued with me, repeated the same statements, was confrontational, and frankly hostile.

I've considered filing a medical malpractice, but wouldn't waste my time on this jerk. He needs to retire, now. I had to go to a local optometrist and pay out of pocket for the exact same exam he did, just so I could finally get an accurate prescription. Follow up calls to his office to demand an explanation for his non-service were never returned. Absolutely infuriating.
Untrusted doctor, changing his words, wrong advice.
The doctors are very informative. Staff are friendly and helpful, too!
1. Dr. Mitchell Seidman is an Ophthalmologists (eye doctor). He has two clinics in Brooklyn, New York. One is located in the Brighten Beach by the subway station. Another is located in the Park Slope by the subway station. They are both extremely clean and modern. 2. For about 10 years, I visiting Dr. Seidman's clinics (both locations) for my periodical eye exams and some treatments (minor laser surgeries for reducing the elevated internal pressure of each eye ball). I also received prescriptions for obtaining new eyeglasses.3. Since I was a child, due to my bad eyesight, I visited so many different eye doctors in Japan and the USA. In my personal opinion, Dr. Seidman is one of the most sift-spoken, professionally knowledgeable, and caring eye doctors I met. He does not cut any corners. He spend time and answer your any questions or concerns about your eyes. 4. Additional friendly service: The Dr. Mitchell Seidman's clinic makes a reminder phone call to us a few day before our appointment date. I visit his clinic only once or twice a year but this friendly phone call is so helpful for me, who do not carry my appointment book always. 5. NOTE: WAITING TIME: The Dr. Mitchell Seidman's clinic is always booked with many patients. In fact, it is over booked (just like the super popular Sake Sushi AYCE Japanese buffet restaurant in Brooklyn, literally.) He is that much popular, especially older patients, who have been visiting him for many decades. (I have been visiting him about a decade.) Even if your appointment is 3PM, and you physically arrived there at 3PM and sign up for the waiting sheet at the front desk, you usually have to wait about 30 to 45 minutes, like visiting any doctors' clinics. So, make sure that you have a plenty of time for the day you visit his clinic. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchell Seidman to my friends. I have been going to Dr. Seidman for years. If you're looking for the best ophthalmologist in Brooklyn (or probably all of NYC) this is the doctor for you. He has seen me through cataract surgery and other issues, and I couldn't be in better hands. My family members have gone to him before me. Yes, the waiting time can be long, but in my opinion, he is worth the wait. Another thing I love about Dr. Seidman is that he doesn't over-diagnose or medicate. I highly recommend him.
I scheduled an appt with Dr. Seidman after a less than satisfactory experience with another opthamologist. Smart move on my behalf. He was very patient and thoroughly interested in how to treat my condition. I wish I had found him sooner instead of wasting my time with a subpar doctor. The only downfall was the wait. However, I'd rather wait a bit and see a physician that made me feel comfortable and cared for.
Overpriced and nasty attitude but worst of all, he misdiagnosed me by trying to practice outside his specialty. Although he admitted that it was no longer an eye problem but rather a skin problem, he nevertheless insisted -- on two visits -- that I had acne rosacea caused by skin lotion. A real dermatologist quickly dismissed both those quack claims. He also told me I'd need plastic surgery and got insulted when I challenged that.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
