List of Edward F. Smith's Reviews
Do not come to Dr. Edward Smith's office. He is full of sh*t. I visited his office yesterday to get my eyes screened. Dr. Smith was trying to scare me saying that there is a hole in my right retina, but when I went to visit my optometrist at Park Slope Optical last month, he said that my retina is stretched no hole, and my eyes looked healthy. So do not make appointments at Dr. Smith's office because he'll try to scare patients by telling them they are going blind.
my mother has been going to this doctor for years. in the last month, the experience has us looking for a new doctor. his dreadful receptionist, (caribbean accent) has been condescending, rude, dismissive, and borderline disrespectful. it's unfortunate when a doctor loses patients because of poor staff capacity. the receptionist, ewa is a complete gem--which is the only saving grace. i found myself calling at times to avoid one receptionist in order to get actual help. i ended up hanging up without a resolution. to dr. smith, your reception practices will cost you immensely. i strongly suggest you speak with your staff about how they speak with patients-- no one wants to pay for that. no one wants to experience that. 1.your receptionist, (not ewa) is extremely rude and told us that our "story was too long" call back later. 2.when we did she put us on hold for over 7 minutes. i called from another phone and was connected with ewa, who was the only reason i did not advise my mother to find a new doctor. 3.i will write this review on every single platform until the customer service changes. 4.there is no excuse for your receptionist's behavior and tone. she reports to you and therefore is a reflection of you.
Absolutely the worst office manager ever. Made me feel humiliated by being condescending and rude. I love Dr. Smith who's fantastic and very professional but would never go to his office. This lady begged me to post this review when I confronted her behavior.
Smith diagnosed me with macular degeneration. Serious stuff. However, I thought he was aloof and arrogant and wouldn't want him to treat such a serious condition. I made an appointment with a top macular dr. in NYC. My exam was quite extensive and he told me I don't have macular degeneration. For one month while I waited to see this top macular dr. I prepared for the worst and tried to cope with what was to come. I am home and grateful that I didn't allow this incompetent dr. to treat me.
Had thorough exam and have a major problem which he wouldn't address and wanted to see me again. I asked one question and he wouldn't answer until next visit. I won't see him again.
I have visited this place for a short while and I'm tired of the wait time and the overall experience. It's a joke that a person who hypothetically, has an 11am appointment, but won't get to see Dr. Smith until at least 12:45pm if you're lucky. What makes it even worse, is that I had an emergency before because I ran out of medication and when I call the office, the receptionist (a new lady with an Russian accent), tells me I have to make an appointment instead of leaving a message with the doctor to get my hands on much medication. What happen to the sweet Latina woman that was there before, who had stellar customer service? I am glad, I got rid of them and found me a new opthamologist, who does not only make you wait until kingdom come, but has excellent bedside matter (the interns aren't great), and not make you a subject for the interns to play doctor, until Doctor Smith arrives (they should ask patients first before making you a guinea pig). Dr. Smith is alright, as an overall doctor, but the surrounding factors make this practice hurt their own brand. If you're looking for an ophthalmologist this is not it, keep searching unless you don't have much of a choice.
I've seen Dr Smith at least on 3 occasions and he has been extremely thorough, patient and friendly. His entire staff has been extremely professional and helpful. I would not hesitate to reccomend him to anyone who needs an ophthalmologist.
Be prepared to wait for hours past your appt time to see a doctor. My morning was wiped out.
I visited several eye doctors from Long Island to Brooklyn for a situation I had with my eyes; no one knew what it was. Until someone recommended me doctor Edward Smith. It was the greatest experience from the quality of his staff to his professionalism and care. He went above and beyond during my visits. My eye situation was gone after a week into his treatment. I highly recommend Doctor Smith
I have been a patient of DR.Smith for more than 20 years.Without a doubt, one of the best doctors I have ever had.Not only do I respect him as a doctor,i respect him as a man.If you have eye problems,he is your man.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
