Great staff, terrible customer service and near negligent billing and book keeping. Expect bills up to a year later. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Lovely staff but shambolic billing and customer service. There are other better dental practices in the area with a more human approach.

The front desk service has significantly improved! Also the best dental hygienist in town.

I've been a patient with The Smilist for a few years now. Previously, I left a phenomenal 5 star review for Dr. Culpepper & my dental hygienist, Richard. Unfortunately, my dentist no longer works here but my dental hygienist is still here thankfully. I recently paid for their Smilist One plan insurance where it consists of 2 cleanings & updated x-rays. They also informed me that other dental services such as fillings, root canals, etc. will be discounted. During my most recent appointment, I was told by the new dentist, Dr. Nadig that I'll be needing one filling & a completely new root canal on a different tooth that already had a root canal done back in 2022 by Dr. Culpepper which he did an excellent job with. I paid lots of money (out of pocket) for my root canal & it was done very recently so it's absurd that I was told I need a brand new root canal on that tooth. Regardless, I went into another dental clinic to get a second opinion & they disagreed about me requiring to get a new root canal or a filling done. Not to mention, The Smilist claims to provide "huge discounts" if you have their own insurance plan but yet, they wanted to charge me approximately $300 for a filling & $3,000 for a root canal lol. How are these discounted prices if the maximum cost of a filling/root canal costs that much in NYC? I initially put a $100 deposit towards the tooth that needed a filling & when I asked to be reimbursed, I was obligated to wait nearly 2 months just to receive a paper check in the mail. Um, it's 2024, who still uses paper checks these days? Tf. Once my Smilist One plan ends, I will NOT be returning back to this place. It's obvious that without Dr. Culpepper or dentists like him, this place is going downhill.

If you ever want to feel disrespected and invisible this would be an amazing place to visit. The front office manager ignored my presence and chose to attend to the client who walked in about 10 minutes after me (claims she hadn't seen me) not likely as it is a small waiting room and only one other person was present. When I politely stated, "I'm next", she told me to just wait as these people (a couple) had a question. I objected (still polite) and the entitled line jumpers attempted to venture into a verb battle that seemed to entertain the manager as she settled in to watch. Thankfully ,I held on to my dignity and reminded them that I had power to walk out. I don't know why the "manager" felt it necessary to insist on interrupting the dentist during my consultation - he eventually asked her to wait until he was done. The clinical experience was okay - but I'll never be back.

Friendly and ethical staff! My go to dental office for routine cleanings and check ups. They are attentive and truly care about the well being and comfort of their patients.

Horrible place, I would give 0 stars if I could. Walked out of this place before I could get any service. The receptionists were rude, unprofessional, and uninformed.

After dealing with insurance and everything, The Smilist Dental Greenpoint turns out to be the place that I feel more comfortable to let them take care of my tooth. Staff are friendly and helpful; Dr. Culpepper and Dr. Chung are very nice and knowledgeable. Hopefully, things still going to the good direction.

The most terrible dental experience I've had. I really tried to give this place a chance: I did two teeth cleanings and a whitening which were ok - Richard, you're ok but the rest of you are crooks. I had a crown implant which wasn't necessary (read further below) and was a painful nightmare of an experience. The Smilist is also dishonest with their billing and racks up mysterious bills against you. On my first visit, the dentist (Dr Kirshembaum) told me I needed a crown, and she "had a few minutes" and could do it right there. I trusted her and went with the process, allowing her to drill and put in a temporary crown. When the permanent crown fitting happened she clumsily put it in, and a couple of days later the crown fell out and I was in SO MUCH pain (your tooth nerve is exposed). I had to go back to get it re-fitted on. Every time I came in, the office receptionist would say I owed a lot of money until I question them and made them look deeper. Then they would say that they "figured something out with my account" and that was fine. I was told that the cleanings were completely covered by insurance. I paid for the whitening entirely out of pocket, and for the crown they gave me a detailed sheet showing what insurance would cover and what I would pay out of pocket. To be clear, I paid exactly what was on that sheet and what was communicated to me as owed before procedures were performed, but every time afterwards there was always a high balance. Later on, I learned the insurance denied the coverage of the crown. When I contacted insurance, the rep explained that it was denied because the X rays showed that I NEVER NEEDED A CROWN at all. Months later, I was still in a lot of pain from the crown and reluctantly had to go back. The original dentist never actually checked my bite and fitted/shaved down the crown to fit properly, so my bite was uneven which caused me to bite with full force onto the one tooth with the crown. The new dentist I saw (Dr Culpepper, who had been briefed on my experience) performed the fitting adjustment, but then remarked that I now need a ROOT CANAL on that tooth!! He also conveniently "had a few minutes to do it right there" if I wanted. Ok lastly, my wife went to the Smilist 2.5 years ago for a simple cleaning. We just got a bill in the mail today for over $500 for her with no explanation why! I've held off on posting a review on this place for a while, but this last bill was the final straw. There's more to my experience here (that's what a shit show this place is), but I had to narrow this down for brevity. To this day, my tooth with the crown still doesn't feel right, but I'm not going back to these crooks and I advise anyone else to also AVOID THE SMILIST

HORRIBLE. If I could give 0 stars for this place I would. Came here last year for a simple cleaning and not only was the cleaning horrible but the doctor and hygienist were both just trying to find ways to up sell me on other services and the cleaning was rushed and I left feeling like I had nothing done. They were extremely pushy to the point that I was uncomfortable and knew I was never returning. Not only was the cleaning horrible but they seem to only be interested in billing you as much as they can even while having insurance. Just discovered now that I "owe" them a charge I knew nothing about for a simple cleaning and never once got a phone call from them letting me know any money was owed after billing my insurance. They do not care about you as a patient only how much money they can grab from you. PLEASE AVOID BY ALL COSTS - they are complete scammers and unprofessional.
