I owe Dr. Dakwar my life. I've been dealing with a debilitating medical issue for 3 years that required surgery. Up until I met Dr. Dakwar, I have been treated so unfairly by other Dr's. I've been yelled at, humiliated, laughed at and lied to after admitting to a drug addiction I had from this medical problem. I wanted and needed help with this, but instead my surgery was cancelled after I was there. The Dr. discharged me from his service and a diagnosis of drug addict was all over my chart. After that some Dr's I called prejudged me and I was turned away. The Dr's I did get into had no intention of helping me, they either lied or left me in tears on my way out the door. Even after I went to rehab voluntarily and quit, I had to take a drug test before I could make appt. It was negative and I still didn't get an appt. Instead got a lecture from a nurse. I've been a RN for 22 yrs and always treated clients with respect and kindness. I was in tremendous pain and was depressed when I was given the appt with Dr. Dakwar 1 week after calling. There was no judgement made, he treated me like a human and when he did ask, he did it very quick and then went right on with the other questions. 2 months later, surgery is behind me and I can't tell you how happy I am meeting Dr. Dakwar and all the staff. My surgery went even better than expected and Roswell was the best hospital Ive been in. I guess it was all meant to be. I will always remember Dr. Dakwar for giving me my life back and treating me with compassion.
