Lori is amazing! My 5 year old son developed severe anxiety surrounding eating solid foods and choking. For a period of time, he stopped eating or would only come liquids or pureed foods. He was losing a lot of weight and we didn’t know what to do. We found Lori and she was nothing short of amazing. She was so calming and reassuring and made my son feel at ease. He was so comfortable around her. It wasn’t long before he was back to eating solids and trying foods he had never tried before in his whole life (he’s picky!). His overall demeanor and self confidence improved dramatically as well when working with Lori. My son has since graduated and is doing great! We still employ the techniques taught to us by Lori! Thank you again Lori!!

My son started speech therapy with Kellie Martin-Mendonis when he was 3 in January of 2024. He consistently worked with her for the following 1.5 years both in her office and later in his classroom. Through this time, she taught our son how to express himself, his feelings, advocate for himself, interact with his peers, and vocalize his likes and dislikes. She is so caring, kind, patient, and a natural with children. What made me truly value her as a teacher in my son’s life, was her genuine investment in his progress. She listened to me vent and express my worries, yet was always a cheerleader and a positive beacon of hope for my son. He truly blossomed in his language under her guidance. He also grew to care for her and always looked forward to their sessions, as she tailored them to his specific interests. The time she put, in creating for him fun and interesting learning tools, was so kind and thoughtful. My son graduated Pre-K this June and is gearing for kindergarten in September. The progress he’s made in his speech, confidence, and self expression, is truly remarkable. We feel blessed to have had our son work with Kellie over the course of the previous 1.5 years and when their time together ended, it was very bitter sweet. We highly recommend Huntington Speech and Feeding to parents who are looking for therapists who are genuinely invested in their child’s success. Thank you Kellie and Lori.

Contacting Huntington Speech & Feeding was one of the best decision we’ve made as parents. From the moment Lori stepped into our home, our little boy’s ability to consume solid foods began to improve beyond our expectations! Week-by-week, he began to consume solid foods, self-feed, and actually enjoyed meal time! On top of that, Lori helped alleviate our fears and concerns. She is very professional, knowledgeable and has a warm caring presence with children. I can’t begin to tell you how good it feels to have our little boy sit at our dinner table and actually have dinner with us. Thank you, Lori!

After many years of different speech pathologists working with my son on a lisp, and a few other concerns, we finally found the golden egg! Lori is well versed and very up to date on the current trends and research related to reading, processing and of course, speech problems. She is personable, friendly and extremely reliable. She made a true connection with my teenage son (yes- teenage!) and completely changed his confidence. She set realistic expectations and our goal was achieved! As an educator myself, I have come across many different speech pathologists and I cannot praise Lori and her associates enough.

Lori is a fantastic speech pathologist and a wonderful person! My son was having trouble with his “R” sounds from an early age. I was hoping he’d grow out of it, but at 9 years old, it was clear that he needed some help. We went to Lori and within a span of a few months, she was able to help him correct the issue while having a blast doing it! Now he sounds amazing and has gained so much confidence in his ability to say words he tended to avoid before. Thank you, Lori! You’re the best!

My daughter has been going to Huntington Speech and feeding since she was 3. She has had sessions with both Lori and Jamie and they are both great. As my daughter got older we transitioned to reading therapy with Lori. Lori is exceptional. She creates an individual reading plan for each student. She figures out their learning style and creates a plan that maximizes learning. My daughter has made amazing progress with reading this year and I owe it all to Lori’s hard work. My daughter is learning the reading code and is now able to read short chapter books. She teaches reading skills that my daughter will use her lifetime. It is amazing to see her progress and we will continue reading therapy with Lori this next school year.

I highly recommend Miss Lori and her team. We worked closely with Miss Lori to work on our daughters speech. When we first started Miss Lori took time to build a trusting relationship with my daughter. Each time they met the work included a game like activity. Our daughter loved going. We recently graduated out of the program and my daughter is sad that she won’t be visiting Huntington speech twice a week anymore. The other teachers also formed a relationship with our daughter. I felt comfortable with all of them. They work hard. The determination for success is very impressive.

I will always be immensely grateful to have found Lori to help my daughter. My 10 year-old developed a fear of swallowing out of nowhere which led to her barely consuming any food. From our first consult, I felt relief talking with Lori so easily and my daughter and I ultimately met with Lori once a week for about 6 months. My daughter loved Miss Lori and trusted her right away. She was losing weight, was so hungry all the time and having headaches, etc. I was just so grateful that my daughter felt like she could now possibly get the help she needed. Lori was so knowledgeable and also so creative while treating my daughter. In those months she gave us a carefully selected list of food to bring each week to eat with her. It was fun for my daughter and she was so positive putting the food together each week. Lori never tried to sneak something past my daughter but instead was so honest and encouraging and used just the right amount of "deal making" with her. They cooked sometimes and my daughter's confidence and security with food was slowly coming back. I learned so much from her too - how to approach eating with my daughter, what to say and what to not focus on... I honestly left each session with what I truly felt were valuable tools to help my daughter's progress. Lori also requested the input of other specialists as she felt necessary and was so open herself about researching and learning other potential ways to help my daughter. It's not an exaggeration to say that she was a blessing for us and any child would be in wonderful hands to work with Lori. She is beyond knowledgeable and is just an amazing person to have in your corner.

We were having so much anxiety regarding our baby’s issues with feeding and swallowing. Lori gave us so much peace of mind and we knew we were in good hands. Her plan and therapy were concise and immensely helpful. She is like the baby whisperer of speech and feeding! Before we knew it, our daughter was eating with Lori’s guidance and wealth of knowledge. We will definitely be maintaining this relationship so we can always have Lori as the wonderful resource that she is.
