In 2017 Dr Charles saved my life through a breast exam and insisted I have a mammogram. Even though I felt nothing, I was diagnosed with breast cancer after having the mammogram. I stay truly grateful to her and her phenomenal professionalism and caring personality. I recommend Dr Charles to all of my family, colleagues and friends and they all just love her.
Dr. Charles is loving and truly cares for each one of her patients. She is willing to and goes above and beyond for her patients. She truly enjoys what she does and it shows. I Highly recommend Dr. Charles if you are looking for someone who is understanding as well as super knowledgeable with extensive experience. You and your baby are in safe hands with Dr. Charles.
All the doctors and midwives in this practice are so devoted to their patients. My daughter was delivered with them a year ago and they were absolutely amazing. They supported me physically and emotionally. After a recent bought of mastitis that I needed to be hospitalized for, they were once again there to support me. Even though they didn’t need to, the doctors came to visit me in the hospital and advocated for me. They are absolutely THE best.

Dr. Charles is empathetic and personable, with a warm gentle touch. I went to her for a regular checkup, teared up when she asked about my children, and ended up receiving a big hug from her that was more reassuring and comforting than any medicine she could have prescribed. Recommend her to any woman friend!!
I have absolutely recommended Dr. Charles to other pregnant women. And I have heard many other women in the community do the same. She delivered my first (and only so far) and had a wonderful unmedicated birth. Dr. Charles spent significant time with me during office visits and is excellent at addressing questions and explaining things. She builds a personal relationship with her patients.
After my first visit at 8 weeks pregnant, every subsequent appointment was cancelled and rescheduled for 2-3 more weeks out. This happened several times with no follow up from the doctor to even ensure I was getting the routine testing at each gestational age. Bear in mind that this is a practice of several doctors and nurses. For my first pregnancy when I lived in NYC, I was with a practice of only 2 doctors and no nurses and was rescheduled only once, with the subsequent appointment pushed no later than a week. When I did see Dr. Charles at that first appointment, she refused to even write me a prescription for prenatal vitamins and told me to just take over the counter stuff, spent a total of 5 minutes with me, and made no mention of any prenatal plan and testing schedule. Her big nugget of wisdom? Hold off announcing the pregnancy, because miscarriages happen. I left mildly confused. Fast forward to 15 weeks pregnant, and I was rescheduled 3 times, received no follow up from the doctor, and was virtually without any prenatal care. Naturally, after the third cancellation, I tried to leave to go to another practice and was dismayed to find that they held my records hostage, and demanded that I personally take a trip to their office to sign paperwork authorizing their release (because my request over the phone wasn't good enough for these psychos) before they would fax them anywhere -- oh and if you still decide to check out this practice, understand that they are stuck in the dinasour age with no computer ability to email records to another doctor. Unfortunately, every other doctor I called would not see me without those records being sent over. I got wise and called one practice, told them I had never had any prenatal care for this pregnancy (mostly true) and that there were no records. That's the only way I was able to get an appointment elsewhere. The new doctor was excellent and immediately discovered that the baby had a rare brain defect called Alobar HPE, in conjunction with host of other severe heart, kidney and other defects. the pregnancy needed to be terminated ASAP. Or there would be adverse risk to me, and I would likely lose the pregnancy anyway. The kind doctor referred me for two additional opinions, obtained immediately, and they confirmed the same. Of course, had dr. Charles bothered to check in on her patient that she hadn't seen in months, and at least ensure that i was getting adequate routine testing, like a Nuchal translucency, cvs, or even routine blood screening, especially considering my advanced maternal age, this might've been discovered sooner. In a way though, my experience, horrible as it was, was a blessing. If the doctors in that practice don't even have the wherewithal and conscientiousness to follow up with a patient, for all I know she and her staff would not be competent enough to make an accurate diagnosis anyway. This pregnancy ended unfortunately, but it led me to the right doctor, in whose capable hands I can feel comfortable and secure that I am receiving adequate health care. As a newcomer to the area, I had no referrals and just blindly picked a doctor on staff at the most convenient hospital. Read a few reviews and thought it would be fine. Look, if you are someone that knows with utter assurance you will have an uncomplicated pregnancy, and don't mind 3rd world level health care, just really need to deliver at Hudson valley hospital, then by all means check out this practice. I personally would rather have my next office visit with doctor Kavorkian than anyone at Westchester medical practice obgyn, and especially meedlen charles, and will happily drive to Carmel to avoid this experience in then future. I will also warn everyone I know to avoid this doctor like the plague.
After my first prenatal visit at 8 weeks, my subsequent appointments kept getting cancelled. Bear in mind, this is a practice with several nurses and 2 doctors on staff. My first pregnancy was with a practice of only 2 doctors and I had only been rescheduled once. And was rescheduled within a few days. My first appointment date given to me was wrong. They scheduled me for the 21st but wrote on my card that it was the 28th. The receptionist called me with an attitude asking why I missed my visit, and I explained that I was told it wasn't for another week. She questioned me as though I was lying, and rescheduled me for 3 weeks later. 3 weeks go by, and as I'm getting ready for my appointment, I get another call that the doctor has to cancel because she has to deliver a baby. They rescheduled me for another 3 weeks. Those 3 weeks go by and guess what? Yup, they rescheduled me yet again. My appointment was with a nurse, not even a doctor. At this point, I am 15 weeks along and know that I must change practices. I asked to have my records transferred, and am told that I must come into the office to sign paperwork for my records to be released (clearly trying to make my life difficult). I ended up scheduling an appointment with a new doctor, only to learn that my unborn child has Alobar HPE and needs to be terminated. I could have found out about this weeks ago and saved the agony, sickness and heartache. Dr. Meedlen seemed nice enough, but her reception staff is inept, and there was no follow up on her part. If you are looking for a doctor who actually cares about you, look elsewhere. They are very cold here, and clearly have too many patients. You will get lost in the shuffle and will get inadequate health care.
She is the best in her profession as she really cares and takes time with her patients.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
