Brookhaven Health Care Facility's Online Review Report Card

ZERO STARS!!!!!!!! (wouldn't post without at least one) This has to be the worst care facility. They claim to be equipped and have experience with dementia/Alzheimer's patients and with their five star rating my family believed them. I wish I read the reviews from patients' families before letting my dad, who had Alzheimer's but otherwise a happy guy, was transferred to here from the hospital. He went into the facility still talking, walking, and eating. They immediately put him in a diaper although he was fully capable of going on his own. They also immediately put him on mirtazapine, which he clearly did not need, to make him sleepy and basically shut him up, without my mother's consent. He was left in a reclined chair to keep him from walking, near the nurse's station. When he wasn't in a reclined chair he was left in his dark room located in a hallway where they store wheelchairs and walkers, and next to an exit door....great place to put someone with Alzheimer's. They completely disregarded our dietary recommendations, and then notified us that he was not eating and wanted to put in a feeding tube. But on several of our visits we were told that we weren't allowed to feed or give beverages to my dad.......I did anyway and he ate and drank everything every time; he was starving and dehydrated. He was never washed up, dressed or shaven for our scheduled visits, which were usually around 1pm, and we always had to wait about 40 minutes before they brought him out. That means he wasn't cleaned up each day. On one particular visit he was sitting in urine saturated pants, and when confronted, the nurse's response was "yeah, I know" as if it was acceptable. They were verbally mean and grabbing his arms aggressively puncturing his skin and physically hurting him; my father did not deserve that kind of treatment. Where is the dignity? We transferred my dad out of Brookhaven Care Facility to another that was more equipped, caring and compassionate. Do not send your loved ones here. I wonder who the Brookhaven Care Facility is paying for that 5 star rating??

My grandfather was in this facility July -October of 2019 and received nothing but excellent treatmentHe has passed and it has taken me awhile to accept thisSaying that I want to post that there were soo many people involve with his treatment that I can’t remember all their namesBut from the person who came in to select his food to the people who helped with his physical therapy and all his nurses and caretaker in unit A and BI want to say thank you and God bless!To all whom spoke to him in Spanish and made him smile “Thank you”As over work you are you never showed itYou are definitely Gods AngelsJennifer OkeefeRamon Melendez ( my grand pop )

I am currently a patient here and am extremely satisfied with the care I am receiving. The Physical Therapy Department (with Mark at the helm) is outstanding (especially Sandra and Adrienne, the two therapists I have the pleasure to work with each day) and a huge shout out to the incredibly compassionate and hardworking Aides who can’t do enough for their patients (Annette, Brenda, Dana, Rosa, Jessie, Suzanne and Laura to name just a few). The positive energy, love and encouragement emitted by everyone who works here is palpable. I highly recommend this facility!!

My father has been in the facility for about 9 months. He is well cared for. He loves all the people that care for him. I am able to sleep at night knowing my father is loved and safe.

Relations mean everything, the admin is the past admins daughter.  Her husband works in PT, her aunt, brother, friends have all or do work there.  Google bhcf v for fascinating insight (#5 and #6).casetext.com/case/klein-… Claims made on social media are just that, claims.  Web crims is well used in regards to past and present "leadership".

My mom is currently staying at Brookhaven Health Care Facility for rehab after a bad fall. So far we are very happy. My mom lucked out with a great roommate, they became fast friends. The staff cares and their is almost always someone around to help when needed. The staff at the front desk are always warm and welcoming. The RN staff Dolores, Richard and Madeleine are great and the CNA's Dawn & Tom are amazing. The food could definitely be better. Hoping the rest of Moms stay goes as smooth as week one. Thank you Dr. Salam, Dr. Varma and the team at BHCF.

I have never in all my life experienced such love and care from a healthcare facility when my mom, Marie Cook, was on the decline and experiencing her final days. Maddy, Rosa, Jay, Victor and all the staff were just so totally amazing at making her feel comfortable and loved and making sure that we were always thought about and informed of her care. My family and I will forever remember this. Much love to all. Thank you again.

Poor care of beloved family member.

My mom has been there a few times for various reasons..I picked this place because a nurse at original hospital took me aside and said"i see you chose Medford Rehab(we live near there)as your first choice for mom,don't,,Brookhaven is much better and Medford hires who Brookhaven fired".She was right.Staff is great and place is very clean.I always have positive experiences with everyone working there.However,lobby does appear outdated and the physical therapy room is tight,but i can't afford the Waldorf right now.Additionally,they could walk the clients around more to socialize,see the weekly entertainment.(you have to request that),She has had some trouble walking after a stay -so i wish they would concentrate on that =but all in all, this place has been a blessing.

Ever since my mom was admitted in that nursing rehab she became more sicker and lost more weight than ever before. The nursing care is horrible death is the possibility of your love ones!!
