Carl P Kaplan's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Kaplan genuinely cares about his patients, not that other doctors don't, but there's no doubt about it thanks to his friendly and open manner.Many doctors I've seen over the years are just as busy as Dr Kaplan, and they let you know it by their actions and sometimes they even tell you straight up they're overworked.Somehow, Dr. Kaplan manages to maintain a friendly and caring bedside manner while working in the same busy system as the other doctors who end up treating you like a number and just another patient file to worry about.

Dr. Kaplan is fantastic. He actually spends time talking to his patients and gets to know them. I would recommend him to any of my friends and family.The staff is also very friendly and efficient. Thank you!

I find that he is intelligent, communicative and compassionate- as are his Nurses and front office Staff. He really listens, asks directive questions, and in general provides excellent medical care. He takes the patient's opinion and experience regarding their own body into account when treating. Which, in my opinion, is uncommon to find in a Physician.You do have to be a pro-active patient. In the past, I have been frustrated by other Doctors who were better suited to more passive patients. I expect to take a very active role in the care and well-being of my body. Dr. Kaplan is an excellent choice in a Primary Care Physician if you feel similarly. It's also important to note that I am a generally healthy person with no ongoing or chronic medical concerns, so I don't have experience being treated by Dr. Kaplan for anything more than passing ailments. I do find that follow up care through Lakeside Medical (which I've reviewed separately) can be a bit of work. I fault the Medical Group, rather than the Doctor.

The best way to describe Dr. Kaplan is he is equivalent to a Rock Star! I absolutely love and adore this doctor. I have been suffering for over 10 years with a chronic painful disease. I have literally seen a minimum of 30 doctors in this time frame including several "specialists". I can not say enough good things about this doctor. He is thorough, compassionate, and understanding. I have never had a doctor sit next to me and look me straight in the eyes when either of us spoke to the other. He is always running behind for his next appt. which is okay to me because I know I will be getting the same time and quality as he gives each of his patients. In the short amount of time that I have been seeing him, I feel 1000% better than I have in years. I am able to hold my children without it hurting my entire body. I am hopeful for the first time in many years that I am on the right track with Dr. Kaplan. He has assured me that we will get a handle on my illness, and we will be able to treat it so that I can have a normal life rather than being bed bound most of my days. For the first time, i believe in a doctor and am not discouraged by the medical field. To have hope and properly prescribed medication, I am encouraged about my future, This is the best gift anyone has ever given me....so thank you Dr. Kaplan. Thank you for helping me start to get my life back.Also, the office manager Suzan is remarkable. She is kind, knowledgeable, and an extremely hard worker. I can not say enough about her. There are a few issues within the office that I think need to be addressed, but I will save that for another time. I do not want to take away from the greatness of this doctor!

Extremely Terrible Experience. Best find another doctor.This guy is a JOKE!

Dr Kaplan is the only doctor I've been to in my 30 years that hasn't been a complete ass hole.He's one of the best. Sits down with you and actually listens to your concerns and understands exactly what's going on. Respects your opinions and comes to conclusions with you, not for you.I'm not sure I could ever say that with any of the other doctors I've been to.He's also recently moved to a lot smaller office, a lot closer to my office (on Van Nuys, just south of Magnolia). So much more convenient and have never had to wait more than a few minutes to see him.

Dr. Kaplan may be ok, just as the previous review stated. But the office is so horribly run you're taking your life into your hands trusting them with your medical care.

Easily one of the worst experiences I've had with a doctor. I called to request a prescription to deal with a case of pink eye, and the rude individual who answered the phone informed me that it's their policy that a pharmacy has to fax a request to them before they can write a prescription. I argued that it was a ridiculous policy to force a patient to A) figure out which medication they need and B) trust that a pharmacist in a busy drug store will take the time to send such a fax in a timely way. She basically said take it or leave it. I have a new doctor now.
