Excellent surgeon and great staff!
Dr Shapiro has a word-of-mouth following because of his surgical proficiency and method. You're in the best of hands!! Had a non-mesh hernia repair... no complaints at all!! He's amazing at what he does!
Cyst removal in 2017. He was extremely cocky and bragged that I wouldn’t even notice a scar. My upper back was left with a poorly sutured wound that ultimately opened and and needed to be packed for over a month. To this day I have a large area of uneven tissue and thin puckered skin which is tender to touch. I understand surgical complications are a risk of any procedure. This is not what I take issue with. The fact that I never saw him again after the procedure; that I had to hound his office to get me in for a follow up was my problem. My post op care was grossly negligent. I am a nurse and would NEVER under any circumstances recommend this man.
My experience has been pretty bad. He is not careful enough. Find someone else. I had several cysts removed by him. When he removed the stitches one of the wounds wasn't completely closed, so now I have a hole in my back that will take two months to heal. Besides that, he missed 3 stitches in my scrotum when he inspected the scar, so I had to point it out. Then he accidentally left two pieces of non-absorbable suture, of about 1 cm each.
Extremely rude and unintelligent. I'd be scared for my life if he operated on me. Highly advise you to find another surgeon.
Did not read my radiology report before speaking to me and making recommendations. Recommendations he made for surgery were far extreme based on competing medical research that showed that based on my condition, it was not recommended that my condition be operated on. Not impressed by enthusiasm to have a surgery done on me when it was not deemed medically necessary.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Shapiro. He was right on about diagnosis, but more importantly, not in a hurry to do unnecessary testing, etc. Would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
