List of MIchael G Moskovitz's Reviews
I showed up for my scheduled appointment at the office of doctor Moskowitz. (2053 Bellmore Ave. Bellmore ,NY 11710). The receptionist seemed to be in a bad mood. I noticed this as she did not greet me when I came in. I stated that I never received a conformation phone call for my visit. She said, someone did call you. I let it go as it wasn't a big deal, only to be told that I never really had an appointment for that day. I insisted that I did. I said, why would I come here if I didn't have a follow up appointment. she went back and forth with me. She never offered to make another appointment. She would not even apologize. I had a bag of fresh vegetables that I gave her before I left with no appointment. I grow my own fruits and veggies. I wanted to make her feel comfortable in these troubling times of covid. I couldn't believe my eyes. She took the bag ,and threw it somewhere down under the counter ,and did not even say thank you. So I left feeling so upset about having to show up for a scheduled appointment ,and to be treated so cold.Part 2I receive a phone call from a women named catherine, claiming to be the office manager. (that same day at 5:30pm) she asked me what happened. I proceeded to explain, but she cut me short and offered me an appointment for that evening but, that there was a condition. I was not to tell the doctor what happened. I asked her why I couldn't let the doctor know how I was treated. She said it wasn't appropriate. She then asked me how I knew I had an appointment scheduled for that day. I responded, you gave me a card with the appointment date written on it. I said I have to let the doctor know what happened no matter what. So, she cancelled my appointment. Can anyone please help or advise me as to what action to take.I am also very concerned because there are some problems with my blood work and I really need to see a doctor. I'm so disturbed by this.
I've seen Dr. Moskowitz for pain and anxiety for years and years. I just can't remember how long. He is, without doubt, brilliant at what he does. He's intuitive, caring and creative. He has helped me through a seriously distorted spine, the death of my husband and problems with other doctors. He remembers my issues and speaks of them all as he considers advice for me. He is a most compassionate man. His wife, who is a nurse in the office, is also fully aware of the circumstances of each client. They make a comforting team and I'm lucky they're together. Other staff in the office are caring, professionals and it's a caring office to visit. Dr. Moskowitz is wonderful. And, as another patient has written, I'm truly worried what will happen when he decides to retire!
I saw doctor Moskowitz forr acute pain caused by sciatica. I thought his intake nurse was excellent. He was another story. His waiting room was packet and he was in a hurry to clear it out. After a perfunctory interview he prescribed oxycodon. This only serve to constipate me with no pain relief. He the prescribed morphine a highly addictive drug. At this point, I cancelled all future appointments. I would not recomend him.
There's so much wrong with this place, and especially Dr. Moskowitz himself. The only positive thing to mention is the intake nurse. She did a very thorough job of asking me about everything associated with my chronic back pain and was very thoughtful and inspiring about the Clinic's ability to help me. Unfortunately, that's where the inspiration ended. Next, I met with Dr. Michael Moskowitz. He will invite you into his office, show you all of his knick knacks - guitars, handmade knives, etc., all which have nothing to do with helping you but he thinks they're pretty cool. He has a seemingly friendly and caring personality, but with hindsight that was just a show for what little substance followed. Specifically, he will talk about his research into neuroplasticity and how a patient has the ability to alter the effects and, ultimately, the outcome of chronic pain that the body is feeling. I actually believe in much of this work and think there are people out there who can actually help if you need this sort of education and skills to deal with your own chronic pain. Unfortunately, Dr. Moskowitz was not the one for me. He will try and sell you all kinds of things that insurance doesn't cover. Each time I saw him there was something new - oils, lotion, books, a CD. I only saw him a couple of times, so there's no telling how long that was going to continue. He uses a bunch of lab-type glass vials and things to help him dispense his products. It looks cool I guess, but once again is just a cover for how little substance is beneath all the fancy do-dads he has in his office. He also has a nice zero gravity chair that would be perfect for someone with back pain to sit in while he talks over your head, but it turns out that's for him. The mushy leather couch is for you. That may sound petty, but honestly as someone dealing with back pain, a comfortable place to sit is an important detail. Working with him proved to be very difficult. Once he asked me if I would wait an hour so he could fit in another client that was just added to his schedule. I told him I couldn't but it wasn't a problem and I'll just reschedule. He then said he would do me a big favor for being patient and give me a free CD. A nice gesture I guess, but he just came off as cocky and disingenuine. The next 2 visits were cancelled by him on the day of my appointment. Apparently his client cancellation rules do not apply to him. The next time I was supposed to see him (after 3 failed appointments) he was nowhere to be found when I showed up. I waited 20 minutes and then left. A week later, I noticed that he charged my insurance provider $280 for the appointment we never had - that's insurance fraud! Fortunately, I have found some good help in dealing with the mental side of pain. Reflecting on my experience with Dr. Moskowitz however was so disappointing that I felt compelled to write this review. Of all the Practitioners I have seen over the years, this was my most frustrating. It's ok to not be able to fix the patient; it's not ok to swindle them.
I have been seeing Dr. Michael Moskowitz for I don't even know how many years now. I have received nothing but superb care from him, and as for bedside manner, well, he treats me like a daughter. I really feel he actually cares about me as a person, not just as a "case." Furthermore, his treatments are effective, which is saying a lot, since most doctors haven't even heard of my condition. Dr. Moskowitz works in concert with a Nurse Practitioner named Diane Keaney, and she, too, is fabulous. Everyone who works in his office, including the front desk staff, is thoughtful, considerate, takes the time to listen to what I have to say (and remembers it later), and is very competent and friendly. In short, the care I have received there has transformed my life - I went from being someone who could barely perform daily functions to being a reasonably active and happy person with a full life. Who could ask for anything more (well, from a doctor, anyway)?By the way, I don't know why Dr. M is categorized as a "psychiatrist" ... he may have that credential, but he is really more of a traditional MD in terms of what he does in his practice.
Dr. Michael Moskowitz is an extremely knowledgeable physician. He is constantly looking into alternative means of helping his patients who suffer from constant pain. This is an adjunct to traditional medicine. He is very compassionate and understanding. He does have a very busy practice, & can run late, but he is definitely worth the wait.Catherine Dennes Akay, MSW
Dr. Michael Moskowitz and his extraordinary team of associates have demonstrated their skill, by giving me the BEST medical care I have experienced throughout my 20 year history of debilitating pain due to: Cervical Spine failure, degenerative disk disease, fusions, stenosis and nerve damage. On my first visit to Dr. Moskowitz, I entered with a cane, neck brace and significant crouch in my spine, where I could not work or imagine a tolerable future. The debilitating pain I had was so ruinous that I could not see a way out... except through death. Dr. Moskowitz has changed my life and has given me a future full of hope and opportunity, by taking my Pain down to a fraction of what I was living with. I had seen 12 different specialists with no improvement in my condition. Other Doctors would look at my file and push me through their assembly line offices with a new prescription in hand, Dr. Moskowitz went above and beyond expectations and tackled my case with cutting edge treatments and an honest tenacity to improve my condition. Under the care of Dr. Moskowitz and his staff; I no longer wear a neck brace, walk with a cane or have a crouched back. Dr. Moskowitz and his Colleagues at Bay Area Pain Medical Associates, have transformed my body and my life. Dianne Kearney, an Advanced Practice Nurse, who is more knowledgeable than many of my previous Pain Management Doctors, works in collaboration with Dr. Moskowitz to manage my care and find solutions to multiple problems both small and large. Between the two of them, I have experienced better care than one would expect from any doctor. They researched my history and collaborate with my other Doctors on a regular basis, while not only staying at the forefront of Pain Management Research and new Treatments, but also forging his own new avenues to abate chronic pain. Today I take a fraction of the Pain Medications that I did when I began treatment with Dr. Moskowitz and I am in the process of moving off all Opiates in the future.... Going down on Pain Medication while LOWERING my Pain at the same time is extraordinary!!! These words do not do justice in recommending this Caring and Loving Doctor and everyone at BAPMA that have changed my life... Simply the BEST Doctor I have had the privilege to encounter.
Update.I really do not agree author the review who says fr Moskowitz is expensive .When in Cronic Pain , it really effets your entire life .You cannot place a $ value on how much my life has gotten better by seeing Dr. Moskowitz and his staff .GREAT PRICE VALUE !!!when you pay peanuts you get Monkeys .Not the case at BAPM

Bay area Pain Management is a Diamond in a screw up medical system
Having been a patient of Dr. Moskowitz for many years he has seen me through tremendous medical issues besides the original back injury, surgery and complications. He is always caring, supportive and understands the interactions of various disease processes. He is always innovative and has advanced knowledge of the latest pharmaceutical advances available to treat pain. Thank you Dr. Moskowitz for all you have done and continue to do for me.
