List of Vincent P. Basilice's Reviews
Dr. Basilice has a first class practice and everyone is so helpful. He called me the night of surgery inquiring about how I was feeling and one of the nurses did the same. Overall I’m very pleased with the results and the professionalism of his practice.
I was very disappointed by my experience with Dr Basilice. When I arrived, the waiting room was rather dirty with mud and debris on the floor and the office looked rather shabby. Although I’d made an appointment to be evaluated for cataract surgery, the first thing the receptionist did was try to persuade me to have a $50 refraction exam for glasses. I said I don’t want it, since I don’t currently wear glasses and hope not to need them after getting the cataract in my right eye treated. Staffers then took me from room to room for various eye tests, and about 90 minutes later I finally got to see Dr Basilice. The first thing he did was insist I have refraction test I had said I didn’t want. I reluctantly agree since he contended it was essential for the evaluation. Next, he diagnosed me with glaucoma and said my intraocular pressure was very high at 28 mmHg. I said I’d seen two other eye doctors in the previous two months who both said it was completely normal at 14 mmHG. The normal range is 12 to 21. Dr Basilice then started patting my knee and said in a snarky tone, “Apparently you’ve gotten some bad information.” I was very uncomfortable with his handsy style and even more so when he contended that along with cataract surgery costing about $9,000 beyond what Medicare covers, I also needed a $2,800 laser treatment for glaucoma. He was rather sexist, calling his staffers “the surgery girls” and asked if I actually needed to drive. Since I’m married, he suggested that my husband could drive me around. He then scheduled me for another appointment to followup on my alleged glaucoma. I was skeptical of his diagnosis and went to a different eye center the following day for a complete evaluation. That doctor also said my IOP was completely normal and the only problem was cataracts. I have to wonder why Dr Basilice wanted to treat me for a disease three other eye doctors said their tests showed, definitively, that I do NOT have, and if financial motives played any role. After my visit I was dismayed to see a review in which a patient praised Dr Basilice for “diagnosing a sudden glaucoma attack I was unaware of” and others calling his office “a money making machine.” I canceled the followup appointment with Dr B and consulted a leading ophthalmologist in NYC for a third opinion. She did tests and stated that my eye pressure is totally normal and I don’t have glaucoma. All I need is cataract surgery. That doctor was warm and caring, had superb qualifications, an impeccably clean office and extremely competent staff, so I scheduled my cataract surgery with her. I’m glad I got a third opinion!
Unknown to me, I was having a sudden glaucoma attacked. Dr. Basilice explained what needed to be done in a calm, caring manner. He corrected the problem. Next, he went on to remove my cataracts and correct my astigmatism which was so bad I couldn't see without glasses. Thanks to Dr. Basilice, the only time I really need glasses is when I'm reading! Everyone on Dr. Basilice's staff is caring and kind. I have met a lot of doctors throughout my life and I can honestly say Dr. Basilice is the best!
Dr. Basilice is by far the best in all areas of eye care. When I first came to him, I didn't know I the pressure in my eyes was glaucoma and that I needed emergency surgery. Dr. Basilice, explained everything in a calm and caring manner. After the surgery was performed and my eyes were healed, he performed cataract surgery and corrected my vision. I have worn glasses since I was two years old and my vision was bad. Dr. Basilice corrected the astigmatism and now I only need glasses for reading. He is amazing!!

Dr. Basilice perform cataract surgery which resulted in my vision improving from legally blind to 20/20. I am a physician and am familiar with standards of care. His expertise and the expertise of his staff was exceptional. The care I received at the ambulatory surgical center where my cataract surgery was performed was also exceptional. The follow up appointments in his office after my surgery were done in a professional and timely manner. I give Dr. Basilice my highest recommendation. I am not R. Festa
Dr. Basilice has been my ophthalmologist for over 30 years and I have always been very satisfied with his knowledge, advise and care. Dr. Basilice recently performed cataract surgery for me and the entire procedure/surgery was a complete success. No discomfort during or after. After wearing progressive glasses for almost 40 years, I now can read without any glasses. Really wonderful....
After 30 years of great eye care, Dr Basilice recently performed cataract surgery which was an tremendous success. I now drive at night without the blinding glare from oncoming traffic and read without glasses. I wish I had this done sooner...
I am a patient of Dr. Basilice fro over 30 years and I highly recommend him for is expertise and professionalism. Dr. Basilice recently performed cataract surgery for me and it was a complete success. As always, very satisfied.
Don't recommend them! After my initial "free" lasik appointment I really just felt like this place was only concerned about the almighty dollar! I saw 3 people before ever getting to see the doctor. It felt like I was being moved from room to room like a ping pong ball. During the first exam I was told I have ONE cataract, during my 2nd visit I was told I have another! I paid my $50 co-pay and then they billed my insurance a ridiculous amount of money. I was scheduled for my lasik, but felt so uncomfortable I cancelled within 24 hours. I then called for my prescription and the office manager informed me they will not send it to me unless I pay another $75. I was correct that this office is just interested in $. Shame on them, it is my consumer right to have my prescription. My husband is an attorney and this is factual. I paid my co-pay and they over billed my insurance. Pitiful.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
