Terrible!!! Don’t waste your money, like I did.
I have been going to southern tier dermatology in Elmira since it first opened. Initially, it was amazing - the front desk and the PAs/doctors were so wonderful to work with and made my experience very pleasant. I was on acutane at the time so I was there very frequently and i truly didn’t have one negative thing to say each visit. They always tried to work with me to make sure I was seen when I needed an appointment quickly and ensured I received the prescriptions I needed in a timely manor. I never waited super long in the waiting room and always felt like the staff went above and beyond. Fast forward to today: ^^ Essentially everything I said above, is no longer true. If there were more or better options in the 607 I would’ve stopped going here years ago. I feel like all they care about is making as much money off of you as humanly possible. Charging for all of these “separate” visits bc apparently combining a mole check and acne question in one visit is just way too much for one visit (every mole check I’ve ever done has taken less than 15 minutes and acne visits even shorter - I now spend double the time in the waiting room). They now require you to schedule and comeback (retake off work) for each individual thing you’d like to show the dermatologist. Need a prescription refill? That’ll be $100+ visit for the doctor to see you for 5 mins and tell you yes it’s working. On top of all of that, they take complete advantage of people who aren’t even looking at their bill. They consistently charge me for 1hr long visits when I am in the room for less than 15 minutes - that’s not even accounting for the time I’m sitting in there waiting to be seen. There also isn’t a time I haven’t spent at minimum 30 minutes in the waiting room each appointment which I now have to schedule multiple separately. This wouldn’t be so bad if the front desk staff wasn’t miserable. They are the most unhelpful and unfriendly people I’ve ever encountered. Seeing what southern tier dermatology was like prior to Schweiger taking over to now is just so disappointing. The PAs and doctors are very nice but again I feel like they just look at me like a cash cow lol - not actually what is best for me as a patient.
I recently had surgery with Dr. C Crandall my experience was excellent, she was professional, it was painless during the surgery and afterwords. Dr. Crandall answered all of my question taking the time to explain everything in detail. I have been a patient at ST Dermatology for several years and will continue to be in the future. Thanks again to everyone at ST Dermatology for being a customer service caring business.
A few years back they were excellent. The last two times I been there was a waste of money. They told me my rash was sun related. Hmmm I don't go out in the sun because I am really sensitive to it. Wrong wrong wrong. But will try cream for 7 days. Then moving on to a new dermatologist. Update: test came back from other Dr. I have Lyme's
The providers are constantly running late! My son has been going to this provider for well over a year. We wait a minimum of 30 minutes every time we go, and when I brought this to their attention, I was told that the provider lives an hour away. As if that is a reason to be consistently behind schedule! We will be looking for a more professional dermatologist immediately.
Liked the doctor, she did a great job with my procedure. She was an hour behind, without apology. That was disappointing.
I have been to Southern Tier Dermatology for 2 visits. I cannot say enough about how great my experiences were. I saw Patrick Crandell both times. Very professional and accommodating. Staff and girls in the office wonderful as well. Highly recommend!!
With wait times consistent with your local emergeny room, you would assume the patient in the next room was an acute trauma patient rather than someone experiencing some stubborn eczema. This practice values no one's time. I cannot believe I have paid them as many times as i have.
Like other patients, we too experienced a very, very long wait. The office personnel and medical professionals appear to be oblivious to this nor do they appear to care for those that are aware. I guess no one else's practice, profession or time matters. Having said this, my son has had success here with acne treatment but I just assume drive further away for a more organized, professional practice. The waiting room at one point was standing room only. This felt unsafe with Covid-most medical offices do not allow a back up in the waiting room to avoid exposure. No one took our temps not asked questions about symptoms. Don't put to much stick into their "safety measures taken".

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
