List of Ian Chan's Reviews
I have irreversible eye damage. When I first came here a few years back, I was just starting to get some eye floaters in my vision that won't go away. I was told that there was nothing wrong and didn't need to have any procedures done. 6 months later on my second visit I was told the same, I was having more eye floaters in my visions at this point but was told that my eye did not need any treatment done at the moment. A month later, I woke up one day with a black spot in the center of my vision. I decided it was time to see a different ophthalmologist. From the new ophthalmologist, I found out that I have retinal detachment and that I needed to be lasered right away. I was told by my new ophthalmologist that the tears in the retina needed to be lasered off months ago and that I had waited too long. I now live with a black dot in the center of my vision, this will always be a reminder to my mistake of only trusting one doctor's diagnostics. I hope anyone else reading this to learn from my experience and perhaps find a second doctor to get a different diagnostics. I now see 2 different doctors at a 3 month interval ever since this incident.
Please stay away for this doctor and clinic!!! I didn’t visit personally but my mom did. She was deceived thousands of dollar for a surgery that was not urgently needed and in a few days she could’ve gotten it covered with medical coverage but this facility wanted cash, wanted money and made her do the surgery ASAP! This is the worst doctor and practice ever!! They are super money hungry! Careless about the patients well being. After my mom got insurance coverages, they lied and told her that the insurance wouldn’t cover her injection and refused to bill the insurance. After a long battle of back and forth they told my mom that they wouldn’t see her anymore. Hello?!?!! Doctors are suppose to provide aftercare for surgical procedures and they REFUSED!!! Because they would get LESS money than what my mom would’ve paid out of pocket. We confirmed that he is an in network providers but he himself and the practice just decided to charge the patient and tell them the insurance won’t be cover. It’s really disgusting that they’re getting money from the immigrants population just because they don’t speak the language and didnt know better. Licenses should be revoked from this place Since my mom’s eyesight has gotten much much much worse after them!!! Honestly if my mom’s eye sight healed after the procedure and injections, I would’ve been okay with all of this, but no, it has gotten worse, there are still shadows in her eyes that caused my bloods stick inside the eyes!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS PRACTICE FOR YOURSELF YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES!!!!!
The attitude of the front desk staff is very bad. every past makes people feel unhappy.
Receptionist is incredibly rude! Blatantly said my father's name is fake and asked for ID. She could have just asked for ID instead of verbally insulting him. All these Doctor offices have terrible service because they get business regardless, but it's unacceptable!
I really appreciate what Dr Chan and his team did for me. I did my vision test 7pm Friday evening and found blood in the eye. I tested Mr. Chan's emergency phone number 9pm. Surprisingly, office assistant called me right away and discussed with me my situation. An early appointment was made on Monday morning. I got the office at 8:55am, Receptionists and medical assistants worked processional and high efficiently. The office is clean and sanitized after each patient. They helped me get ready to see Dr shortly. After Dr Chen did very careful exam on my eye, a small hole was found in the retina o left eye. But I can have laser surgery right away. I don't have good insurance for special doctor, Dr Chen discussed surgery price personally with me. It is very reasonable, but I did not bring enough money with me. He even agreed I can bring next time when I went back for post surgery check up. I went back to his office yesterday and my left eye recovers. Thank you for their proactive service and reasonable price. I highly recommend this office to anyone has retina issue.
The office manager, assuming she is Dr Chan's wife, is running a shady business. She demands patients to pay out of pocket without going through the insurance company. Make sure you communicate with your insurance company otherwise they will rip you off. Avoid this shady clinic.
This was a great first time experience !! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The environment of the office was pleasant and comfortable. I was attended to fast and efficiently taken care of, I would most definitely recommend this location in Chinatown for a great visit to your future eye office !!! Great job Dr. Chan !
This office seriously needs to improve its scheduling system and time management. Be prepared to wait at least 2 hour after your appointment time to see the Dr. Most patients are elderly and they do not deserve to be forced to wait this long to see the doctor. Absolutely ridiculous!!!
The doctor is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain the problem to the patient and tells you what kind of procedure is best for the patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
