Ambika Deb's Online Review Report Card

I am taking the time to write this review, so that you can avoid seeing Dr. Deb. I am extremely disappointed in my visit and lack of communication from Dr. Deb.I saw Dr. Deb on 4/18/22 as a new patient and plan never to see her again. After keeping me waiting for an hour Dr. Deb came in and said that she was catching up on her paperwork. I do not mind waiting for a doctor who may have an emergency, but Dr. Deb spent my time on herself.After the new patient survey was completed, I reminded Dr Deb that I was there for my annual exam. She said that she was planning to have me come back another time until I insisted on having the five minute exam that day.Once I saw the blood test results, I immediately sent Dr. Deb reports explaining one of the results. However, Dr. Deb did not respond to my email on the portal and just referred me to a specialist without speaking with me or reading my email.She never spoke to me about my test resilts, as she promised, nor did she address a specific concern included in my message.Unfortunately, Dr. Deb does not care about her patients and is just going through the motions.The only upside of this visit was that I was able to see my own blood tests and decipher them myself, but will need to wait until my next annual exam to have a conversation with an internist.Find a doctor who cares!

I just recently had my first visit with Dr Deb and it will likely be my last. If you are even slightly large or overweight do not go to her. She blamed everything on my weight, including my mental health issues and things I had told her were from old injuries. She immediately began pushing the idea of weight loss surgery without any question about whether I wanted to hear about it or checking if I had a history of eating disorders or anything. It was extremely rude, triggering, and unhelpful. The only good things I can say are that she ran all the tests I requested and gave me my needed prescriptions and referrals. I was able to get an appointment only about 3 weeks out, but I waited over an hour when I was at the office. The reception and nurses that I dealt with were all basically fine, but Dr Deb was very disappointing.

Started seeing Dr Deb before the pandemic started. She is easy to talk to and is helpful. Does though exams and listens to all my concerns.

Dr. Deb amazing doctor ❤♥ always follows up once she gets the results and her assistant are great, always call or text to make sure we have the appointment soon..

My mother-in-law died in December 2021 without Dr. Deb responding to numerous attempts to reach her office. As it was impossible to call Dr. Deb's office directly, we left numerous calls through Columbia Presbyterian Medical Group, and even walked into their building and left a written message about my mother-in-laws deteriorating condition. We gave up on hearing from Dr. Deb after months of trying.

I found Dr. Deb through the Castle Connolly website on which other physicians nominate the best colleagues in their area of specialty. I did this for my 91-year old, mother-in-law. Dr. Deb gave her a thorough examination before referring her to top a opthalmologist, hematologist and neurologist. All this was necessary to narrow down the cause of her current medical problems. Moreover, Dr. Deb proved to extraordinarily thoughtful and patient with my elderly mother-in-law who can be quite cranky with doctors.

Between Dr Amika Debs and her assistants Amy and Lois, I have never seen such hospitality and genuine care for a patients well being. They answer every question throughly and no matter how many times you call with an issue or question, they respond with kindness and promptness every time. Thank you for everything! -SM

I was struggling with a muffled left ear for about a week ( I waited to get medical attention, because *covering face* the google MDs said to wait it out. I waited and waited and a week later my ear was still muffled. I scheduled a telehealth appointment with Dr. Deb for yesterday at 5:15 p.m., but NYPres' telehealth video interface needs its own health check (but that's another conversation). The app failed me and at 5: 30 p.m. I gave up on the app and called for Dr. Deb to explain why I was not logged in to see her. The answering service that NYPres uses is a bit of a turn off, but luckily and thank Goodness Dr. Deb returned my call promptly (still not a fan of the answering service when its not after hours). She heard my concerns about my muffled ears and agreed to meet with me, because I was in such discomfort and panicking. The hospital closed at 6 p.m, but Dr. Deb easily agreed to wait for me to get to the hospital after hours because she heard and appreciated the distress I was experiencing. Thank goodness I went in and Dr. Deb waited to see me. She treated me and immediately I regained clear hearing. I will forever be grateful for her sparing me prolonged discomfort.

I changed my PCP from a HIP center after being with them for over forty years. I watched my sister being attended to by Dr Deb and was impressed with the personal care. I decided to switch to Dr Deb because I was tired of being treated like a number and not a person. I should have done this years ago.

I saw a comment below and couldn't agree more, condescending, dismissive of what you are saying. One of my issues is hypertension, I have a home blood pressure monitor. When I bring a chart showing my readings which I take once a day, reasonable after a stroke, she seems annoyed and tells me to "Take it less, once a week!" I often have very high pressure, no Doctor has ever suggested that. I guess don't check and no problem. Other issues too, I am now researching to change. I picked her because she was close, a mistake it was.
