List of Charles Ackerson Cole's Reviews
I wish I could give details but I never got to see the doctor. He bought out my previous doctor’s practice and I called to make an appointment and was told it would be three months. I made the appt. Then a few weeks later my right eye blurred and got continually worse daily so i called back and asked to be seen earlier. There was nothing available. When I felt the eye got even worse I called and asked for an emergency appt and was moved up to October 13 which was still two weeks away. A week later I got a call from the assistant saying he could no longer see me on the 13th and it would have to be the 31st. I expressed my strong concern and the fact that I could not see out of my right eye, but got nowhere. So I called another doctor a friend recommended, who heard my symptoms and took me the next day on an emergency basis. I required a surgical procedure which was done the following day. I have now switched doctors to the one who helped me. Dr Cole obviously was not interested.
Two hour wait time and saw the doctor for a very brief time. He had no interest in giving me, a new patient, any advice. Girl "technicians" did most of the work. The office was crowded with overbooked patients. I will never go to this ophthalmologist again.
I've been a patient of Dr. Cole for almost 2 years. He performed surgery on both eyes for cataract surgery. Postoperatively, I would consider the procedures to be ok, but I still need glasses to see (despite paying a bunch for the latest in new multifocal lenses for both eyes). The main complaints I have about the office is two-fold: 1) long waiting time and, more importantly, 2) the fact that the front office staff is rude, snooty. and downright mean. There is absolutely no reason to be treated like that by a receptionist in a long-term patient who has seen Dr. Cole dozens of times. Today, I'm having eye pain. They will not have the doctor call me back and the next appointment is 10 days away.I just made an appointment to see another ophthalmologist tomorrow. Dr. Cole may be a good doctor (but not great) and he does not know how to hire good staff. I would recommend that you find another ophthalmologist!
I am updating my review. It's a year later. Things did not get better.Dr. Cold is super nice and professional and should get 5 stars. The 2 stars is for the receptionist. I was there on a Tuesday for my annual check up. At the end of the visit, I spoke with the receptionist about having her call in a prescription of Restasis for me. I told her the location is Fifth and 34. She couldn't locate it. So I found the pharmacy on my phone (a simple Google search) and gave her my phone so she can get the information (address, phone etc). It's Friday and I still did not get notification from the pharmacy about the prescription. I called the office. Any good receptionist (or human being) would have realized she had forgotten to do her job and offer an apology. She did not apologize and just asked me for the pharmacy information again. So she took down all the information on Tuesday and then threw it away or something. Since I was calling while walking around to do errands, I don't have the extra address or phone number. Nor could I do a Google search while walking. But she had problems finding the pharmacy. She gave me the address of the pharmacy and I knew it was not the right now. I told her that one is located at Fifth and 32. She told me didn't see any other. This went on for a few minutes. And then she said something so fast - it was not clear plus I couldn't hear her too well. But she just hung up on me before I could find out what she said or whether she would call in the prescription for me.I stopped walking and looked up the pharmacy information. I called back and got a different person this time. I explained to her what had occurred with her coworker and I am calling back just to give them the information of the pharmacy. I told her I am flying tomorrow and need this prescription filled today but her coworker hung up before I can tell her. After all I was there Tuesday and didn't expect the receptionist would not do her job. If I didn't call back today, I would never get my prescription.Anyhow I gave her the address and she said she couldn't find it. I gave her the number and was told it was not correct. Each time I asked if she wanted the store number and I never got any response. Then she finally told me she found the pharmacy with the address. A few minutes later I got notified by the pharmacy the prescription is ready for pick up.Such a simple thing but the receptionist is just not up to par. She just simply does not care. And there are no consequences for her bad job performance.I guess Dr Cole or his management do not check these reviews. Or, they just don't care whether good customer service is being provided by their staff. A year later and the receptionist has not changed a bit. It is really sad.
I’ve undergone cataract surgery as an infant back when I was just a week or two shy of turning a month old. Needless to say I’ve had my fair share of ophthalmologist visits ever since. Often considered a rarity, doctors took the opprotunity to view me more as something to oggle at rather than listen to my concerns and properly informing me of the state of my eyes. Due to such experiences I’d grown to avoid ophthalmologists like the plague. However, some events led me up to a sudden appointment to get my eyes checked, and that doctor took it upon himself to suggest I followed up with an appointment with Dr.Cole. I walked out truly disliking that ophthalmologist and harboring an intense desire that Dr.Cole wouldn’t be just another one of THOSE doctors, and to my great delight he was incredibe! After all my doctor visits I could tell he knew exactly what he was dealing with, he was eloquent and precise in his explanations and listened to all my concerns. Definitely a doctor worthy of recommendation!
Left waiting for nearly 2 hours without apologizing or giving them any indication on when he will be able to see me. Full waiting room of patients well beyond their scheduled appointment time. I'd have been very understanding if a receptionist apologized and gave an approximate time, but never a word. If my eye is falling out of its socket, I will find another ophthalmologist. Full disclosure: I called the day before, but I feel they could've told me about the long wait.
I was a patient of Dr Jane Lee at this practice. She moved to California and I became Dr. Cole's patient. He is super nice and professional and should get 5 stars. The 3 stars is for the receptionist. I called Monday to have them call in a Restasis. I was told Dr Cole was not there and she would check with him the next day and get back to me. I did not receive any call on Tuesday so I called back. The receptionist said "oh..." so I know she forgot about my request. She said she will check with Dr. Cole and get back to me. You guess it. It's Wednesday and I still am waiting for a call back. So I call again, the third time. Again the receptionist's reaction gave her away that she realized she forgot to follow up with me. She checked with Dr. Cole and told me and then asked me for the pharmacy information. I had a simple request. It should not have been so difficult to fulfill and I should not have to call back 3 times.
Wonderful doctor!
I had 2 surgeries done on the same eye. One was to remove a cataract and insert a crystal lense that doctor strongly recommended to me. (Had to pay extra $3k for that) Another surgery was 2 months later to remove the crystal lens that didn't work for me and insert a regular lens. I am upset about the final result. I can't see clear at a distance and nothing up close., and doctor promised that I will see clear at a distance..
I was referred to Dr. Cole for cataract surgery. The outcome is amazing. My vision is better than I could have ever dreamed and I was equally impressed by the time Dr. Cole took with me to explain everything, and to make sure that my priorities were addressed. He was able to replicate the monovision effect I had with my contact lense prescription, only even better, such that my right eye is slightly undercorrected, eliminating the need for glasses even for reading. His staff is also extremely patient, courteous and helpful

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
