I had bariatric surgery in 2017 to correct perforated ulcer. The surgery is essentially a gastric bypass. For 5 years I slowly starved and got down to 117 pounds. Dr Braithwaite took my case and corrected the huge mistake another surgeon made by hooking me up wrong. I owe Dr Braithwaite my life. I am incredibly grateful for his expertise and skill.

Twenty years ago Dr. Brathwaite did my surgery. He is the sweetest most caring man. This surgery changed my life.

Performed bariatric sleeve on me 5.5 years ago. Lost 75 lbs..only gained 10 back. Just the friendliest most personable doctor/surgeon I've ever met..but more importantly he did an excellent job.

I attended the Winthrop Bariatric group free seminar to get educated about the various weight loss surgeries that are available. The seminar was very informative and the physicians answered everyone’s questions. There was even a post op gastric bypass patient who answered questions about his experience. Great presentation seminar! The problem is that these doctors have such a large volume of patients on a waiting list just for the 1st visit you can wait 2-3 months to see the doctor! I wanted to start the 6 month pre-op process so I made my 1st appointment with the PA for a month. I completed everything within the six months. The coordinator was never available on the phone to verify if she received all the documents ever! We constantly left messages for each other and played phone tag! She would constantly say she didn’t receive the reports from the specialists, even though most of them were Winthrop specialists. I know she should have access to their EMR. I had to make a lot of calls, they told me it was sent to get office but refaxed. She would still say she didn’t receive documents. Which was a lie the woman was overwhelmed and couldn’t handle the volume! I gave up, because too much time was lapsing and I knew my insurance company wouldn’t accept late items. Mind you I saw the surgeon once two more months later! I let them this year I joined New York Bariatrics group in Roslyn and they are awesome and more efficient! I also found out that my insurance only requires a 4 month waiting period, not a 6 month period! Glad I changed surgeons! Mine is Dr Angstadt and had no problem booking an appointment the same month to meet with him! They have a patient portal that shows your progress and the paperwork they received! I should be ready for the vertical sleeve surgery in August 2019! I highly recommend this group! Winthrop ‘s process is slow and antiquated!

Love this doctor. He's a skilled surgeon, but more than that he is a phenomenal human being.

Preop is handed to you in a book and not exactly explained or guided or followed up. I had to keep calling and hoping all these preop procedures were entered only to find I was not thoroughly accepted. Have had other surgical procedures and it never entailed all these hoops to go through. Shame on you!

Dr. Brathwaite - did an elective operation on my relative and it resulted in a severe complication. Dr. Brathwaite never cared to follow-up or apologize for the consequences on his surgery...he just disappeared....

10:00am appointment means you will be seen at 12:30-1pm......RIDICULOUS! PATIENTS TIME IS VALUABLE TOO! No one should have to sit and wait for over 2 hours to see a doctor especially WHEN THEY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT! DO THEY KNOW WHAT THE WORD APPOINTMENT MEANS....IT MEANS YOU WILL BE SEEN AT OR AROUND THE TIME OF THE TIME SCHEDULED.....NOT 2 OR 3 HOURS LATER. They obviously do not know how to plan, schedule, and run an efficient doctor office. do NOT use this office!

Dr. Braithwaite is an excellent surgeon. He is a life saver and has helped me so much! He has great bed side manners and he is a very caring doctor. He is honest and is very intelligent. I would not be here if it wasn't for Dr. Braithwaite. Despite a few complication I had before seeing Dr. Braithwaite, I am so happy I selected him to be my my surgeon. I have never met a surgeon who is so caring. I highly recommend Dr. Braithwaite. His team and nurses are great. Thank You Dr. Braithwaite!

I met Dr. Brathwaite June 2004 after suffering 6 mo. of complications from Gastric by-pass performed by another surgeon. The Night I met Dr. Brathwaite I knew I met "My Personal Angel". Dr. Brathwaite is the nicest, kindest, most caring and compassionate doctor. From his Associates to his Staff . When you are a patient of Dr. Brathwaite you feel instantly at peace that everything is going to be ok. I can't say enough about him except that he saved my life and i will forever be grateful to him.
