Robert Chen's Online Review Report Card

Dr Robert Chen is very professional and a good listener. He is patient and hears you out in regards to listening to the whole picture of your concern or health questions. I have never had a better experience in terms of primary medical care doctors.

I saw Dr. Chen at the West Nyack office & he was very thorough & explained everything in a courteous, concise manner. He answered all of my questions & not one did I feel rushed or that I was taking up too much of his time. I felt very comfortable & highly recommend him.

Do not go to this office for any routine eye exams! They bill the exam as a medical procedure to your health insurance rather than billing them as a routine eye exam to your vision insurance. This left me stuck with a $40 bill for a routine procedure (refraction) that my vision insurance covers. I should not have to pay for a procedure that is covered under my insurance. I am extremely dissatisfied with this office's billing practices! If I am going to be billed for a medical procedure by an Ophthalmologist, then the procedure should be performed by the Ophthalmologist not a tech with the doctor reviewing afterwards. If I wanted that I would have went to a teaching hospital and seen a resident.

There is a reason why you can get an appointment with him so easily as opposed to the rest of the doctors

I brought my elderly mother to see her regular doctor's substitute, Dr. Chen, about her dramatic cognitive decline and physical problems. Though she is quite old, one still expects compassion, care & help if possible. Dr. Chen, barely able to contain his impatience & utter lack of concern, told us to ask her regular doctor in the future and to see a neurologist. He was cold and demeaning. This was the 2nd time he acted like this, and it's the worst doctor behavior I've ever seen!! Shocked.

Dr. Chan's kindnesses and medical expertise and efficiency went above and beyond. my expectations. He helped me tremendously in the beginning of a very difficult illness, was amazingly prompt in responding to all my calls and informing me of my test results. We are lucky to have Dr. Chen in our community

I went to see Dr. Chen after having a bad cataract surgery experience with another Ophthalmologist. He was very thorough in his follow-up care and took the time to address my concerns and answer my questions. When I need to have cataract surgery on my other eye, I am fully confident in Dr. Chen's skills and that his many years of experience will deliver successful results. I'm glad I have found an eye doctor who offers the whole package--someone you can trust for both periodic checkups as well as perform surgery if needed, along with good bedside manner.

I was examined by his technician who spent a few moments determining my prescription. I told her that I couldn't read- even with my glasses an that was the reason for my visit. She asked " can you see better this way, or that way." ONCE. I was then informed that my prescription had not changed. When I finally got to see the Doctor he told me the same thing. I couldn't see the print on the page of any book clearly and it was not an issue in this man's mind. He mentioned that eventually I would get cataracts and the surgery would make my vision much clearer. Nice. I left in the same boat that I was in when I arrived. Went to another doctor who examined me himself and I was given the correct prescription.

I was examined by his technician. I had made an appointment to be seen by a doctor for a full eye exam. I saw the doctor at the end and he quickly reviewed the technician's findings, did one more exam and I was done. He is a nice person. His technician is a nice person. I am just not confident that someone with only a limited amount of training and experience should have my health in their hands--especially since I had no idea that this would happen. All of my other eye exams throughout my life have been conducted by a doctor- in full. This is what I expected and this is why I will not be returning to Dr Chen's office. I am now going to have to schedule another appointment with another doctor because i just do not have confidence in a team that works this way.

Dr. Chen has taken wonderful care of myself and my husband. In cases of emergency he has seen us immediately. He has great patience and always takes the time to explain any problems and what care is required if any. He is terriffic and we would never think of going to another opthomologist.
