Wonderful doctor

I went to Dr. Latefi for a second opinion. After looking at my MRI he ordered a new MRI. I returned to see him after I got the new MRI but the computers and scanner was not working. Without looking at my images he told me he cannot do anything for me. He then asked me who is the other doctor that is doing my surgery. I told him that I do not have a surgery scheduled. He then said, " go, let the doctor do your surgery." He wouldn't let me speak. He was disrespectful, unprofessional, and treated me like I was not worthy to be a patient. He basically ordered me out of his office. I was lost for words. What a waste of time.

I have only great things to say about Dr. Latefi. I went to Northwell's emergency room due to 2 + year history of back and sciatica issues and sudden significant drop in urine flow. The urinary issue is what took me to the ER. 6 hours later I was being told I needed emergency surgery and should check into the hospital. I'm a coward when dealing with medical issues and finding out that I was dealing with a potential life threatening issue it was Dr. Latefi and his team physician that said they believed I would be ok. They were the only doctors during my 4 day stay that give me hope. Turns out the surgery was great and now I'm fine and blessed. While bed side manner may be important to some individuals I feel a doctor's skills and knowledge are the most important. Dr. Latefi never made me feel concerned about him being my surgeon and gave me hope. I am blessed that we crossed paths that day I went to the ER and thank Dr. Latefi.

I’m grateful my surgery appears successful at 4 weeks post op. I had an l4 l5 microdisectomy, a hemilaminotomy, and a partial facetectomy. My back feels strong and stable and I am walking 2.5 mi daily, which I was unable to do prior to surgery. I could not even lay on my back due to nerve compression, and my left leg and foot tingled and ached, in addition to experiencing deep aching in my left buttock. Those symptoms are gone. I feel I made the correct decision in choosing this surgeon to improve my quality of life.Dr Latefi has a light hearted manner; it was perfect for me bc I’m fearful in a medical setting. He inspired my trust in his skill as a neurosurgeon, and I put my life in his hands.Sometimes I think he is too brief w the patient in the office setting, however his NP will give allthe time it takes to answer questions. I would go to him again as a patient, if needed. Thank u Dr Latefi!

I have seen him reviewed here as having a terrible bedside manner. Let me start by saying I was hoping I did not see that side of him. Unfortunately, I also experienced poor and unprofessional behavior. I hope my surgery was not botched.I returned for my "one week visit" after release from the hospital Sunday. Dr. Letefi was not there, and I was to see an assistant.The practice simply has a horrible bedside manner. Kindness or truthfulness is not important to them whatsoever. It will be a long time before I can vouch for how the surgery went. At the moment, I'm guardedly optimistic.The reason for the one star rating then is bedside manner. It will be a year before I know if my surgery is any good.

I went to an appointment with Dr Latefi with my best friend. I am in the medical field and she doesn't have much of a bedside manner. We both didn't trust her assumptions and we know for a fact, from my friends previous medical history and her fathers that most of what she was stating was false. I would not recommend seeing this provider.

My significant other had an injury back in 2014, that required a few corrective surgeries on his neck. My S. other did not recouperate well and needed repeated neck revisions, due to he did not follow Dr Latefi's advice to not smoke cigarettes, or continue his heavy drinking problem. I am an experienced nurse exhaustd myself taking to all his aftercare appt's and daily begging him to stop his bad habits. Dr Latefi went above and beyond not only in the very involved types of surgery my s. other needed but, the time, and kindness he spent repeatedly to reinforce his healing. As an RN, I can truly appreciate how complex the surgeries were and the hours they took. Dr. Latefi and I were extremely involved in my s. other's follow up care. If you are a patient of Dr. Latefi, I want you to know his years of knowledge as a genius surgeon, you need to follow his advice, change in your lifestyle needed for your recovery. Dr. Latefi is a god among mortals. He is a hero and amazing person. He saved my life, on more than one occasion. He performed an extremely complicated surgery on me and it is because of him that I am able to walk and live life comfortably. He is my hero. He is the best doctor on this planet. He is super kind and listened to everything I had to say and explained everything to me in detail. I even have his personal cell number. Gd bless him; he is a hero. Idk what else to say other than that he is an angel sent from heaven to protect people from harm.

Dr. Ahmad Latefi is the most incredible Neurosurgeon and the nicest Doctor and for anyone who needs complex neck surgery like I had to have, I urge you to request be Dr. Latefi!!!! I had severe nerve damage because of a very bad car accident and I could have suffered partial paralysis if I did not have the surgery. I needed the absolute best neurosurgeon and Dr. Latefi was highly recommended by my neurologist, Dr. Farkash who is also an incredible doctor, as the only neurosurgeon he would recommend.In my case I am a trial lawyer and my voice is my most valuable tool without which my career would be over. Dr. Latefi asked Dr. Scott Harris, an incredible ENT surgeon to join in the operation due to the complexity. Dr. Harris had to lift my esophagus out of the way. I had a prior surgery 16 years earlier so there was a lot of scar tissue and there was a real chance the esophagus would tear when lifted!!!! Dr. Harris masterfully avoided any damage to my esophagus or vocal cords!!!! Dr. Latefi was able to access and remove the damaged herniated disc and masterfully perform C7-T1 ACDF surgery. No complications just a perfect job by by Dr. Latefi and Dr. Harris!!!!!I am forever grateful to both Dr. Latefi and Dr. Harris. They make the best surgical team. Also had my operation at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, by far the best hospital with the most caring nurses.Thank you again, Dr. Latefi!!!!Gary Novins

Dr. Latefi is impatient and condescending, but thats not why I am rating him so low. Be very careful dealing with him as he leaves out important details. He told my mother and I that he wanted to insert rods in her back to strengthen her spine, but he did not mention this procedure included removing disc, so that her spine would fuse after a year long recovery. It was only because we forced multiple conversations that we were finally told that this was ultimately a spinal fusion. I also have to add that during my second conversation with Dr. Latefi over the phone, he snapped at me for asking him what part of my mother's spine had compression fractures. He replied that he did not have that information in front of him and that he was in the middle of surgery and that we had to make up our minds quickly because his calendar was full. Why is Dr. Latefi calling me in the middle of a surgery and snapping at me with no details of my mother's condition?
