I’ve been using Hudson Valley Eye Associates for many years. I have always relied on the expertise of Dr. Phillips, before he retired, and then Dr. Farris. Both are superb doctors and the office staff is top notch. Imagine my surprise when I visited the office today. Dr. Farris was away and Dr. Jean Tostanoski was on staff. I had come in quite upset because I felt one eye was drooping and it had been bothering me terribly for a few days. I was worried it could be infected. Dr Tostanoski walked in the office and abruptly asked me what was going on. I said, “I think I might have an infection In my eye”. She responded (and I quote), “Why don’t you stop diagnosing your own problem and just tell me what is going on?”I normally would have walked out of her office but I wanted to find out what was wrong with my eye. But…I decided in that very moment that I will never return. I think she probably failed Ophthalmology Patient Communication Skills in College.

had both eyes done and she is the best around. i work for Northwell and would refer patients all the time to her. she is the best in her field.

I always feel confident and comfortable when going in for an annual eye exam . I know I'm in the hands of the best there is. She is professional, pleasant and knowledgeable, ( In short she knows her stuff ) .

Dr Tostanoski treated my cataract surgery skillfully and professionally. I totally trust her with my eye care.

Doctor is rude, arrogant and dismissive. I was even referred by my husband, who is a physician who respected another doctor in the practice who since retired. Imagine how she treats patients with no connection! Her Medical Assistant also never did a complete eye exam and then blamed me for refusing to get one. Crazy. Doctor is also completely unprofessional. I heard her complain about other patients in the hallway before she entered exam room. Do Not See this doctor.

While the staff is wonderful, Dr. Tostanoski is impatient, non empathetic. My eye is healing from an injury, she sighs at me because it is hard for me to keep my eye open, talks down to you like a child. I will never go back or recommend anyone to her. She needs to retire.

Cancelled my virtual follow up to discuss any thoughts of cataract surgery. Very rude, spoke over me. Didn’t want to listen to what I had to say. Didn’t want to answer any questions. Was told she does not have surgical privileges at Phelps or any clinic, only “volunteer” privileges. . I wonder why that is....look elsewhere
