Wayne Maben's Online Review Report Card

I had a procedure done by Dr. Maben. He was clear and articulate about the procedure. He is personable with a great bed side manner and extremely competent. I consider myself lucky to have had him as a doctor. I have had doctors who I have been disappointed in so I want to make sure great doctors are recognized. I feel I can trust him and the care he gives. Thx.

At out first meeting, Dr Maben explained the procedure he thought was necessary and the reasons why. He was clear but with a gentleness to his personality which made it much easier to understand the choices I had to do with surgery or not. I chose to go with gall bladder removal. On the morning of the surgery, I was heartened by the respect the nurses obviously had for Dr Maben - not only for his skill but also his 'humanness', as one of the women put it. After the surgery, Dr Maben spoke to my husband about how it had gone and reassured him. Post-Op Dr Maben has always been available in person or on the phone or via another doctor. In terms of what you'd want from a surgeon - a doctor - as well as good results is the sense of caring and connection. I would give Dr Maben a 10 out of 10 score.

I recently met with Dr. Maben to have my gallbladder removed. His office staff were very friendly and attentive. I'd never had surgery of any kind before so I was naturally apprehensive. After my consultation with him I felt totally at ease and comfortable being in his care. He explained the procedure in terms I could understand and was very patient answering all my questions. I went to the Columbia Memorial Hospital emergency room with severe abdominal pain. After several tests it was determined that I had an intestinal blockage. Dr. Maben and his staff then performed laparoscopic surgery to remove the blockage. Everything turned out great. I was home after a one night stay. This surgery was performed on Nov. 1, 2018 and my intestinal condition has been normal to this day. Kudos to the doctor and his staff.

I was referred to Dr. Maben by a friend that works in the hospital. I was very pleased that he took all the time I needed for explaining the procedure and doing all pre operative precautions such as bloodwork and trying some pre operative solutions first. Surgery was scheduled quickly after and I recovered nicely. I feel great. Thanks Dr. Maben.

Dr Maben is the best. He talks to you in words you understand. And he really listens to you and answers all your questions. His bedside manner is awesome. He really cares. That's hard to find any more. I recommend him to everyone.

Removed my appendix. Did an excellent job. He was caring and knowledgeable. He visited me often in the hospital to ensure hospital staff was up to par. Which they were.

this man pushed my guerney through the hosp. to surgery!! easy to talk to and easy to understand . bedside manor is superior F/u at his office was the same awesomeness as first emergent meeting! he is cool!

After the operation my son was never given an antibiotic. Despite taking him back to Maben's office numerous times because he was not healing, no ever did a swab of the area to see if it was inflected. I had to turn to the Wound Center in Kingston in desperation. Turns out he had 3 different types of bacteria in the incision and was put on Cipro for 3 weeks. He also went back once a week for a cleaning at the Wound Center. As far as I am concerned, Maben's office would have let him die of infection rather than test and give an antibiotic.

Dr. Maben operated on my son. It was a huge incision and we cared for it to the letter but it was infected. He never gave my son an antibiotic despite being back there several times for the infection. I finally took him to the Wound Center in Kingston where the bacteria was tested. He had 3 different types of bacteria and was put on a long course of Cipro and cared for weekly. In my opinion, Dr. Maben's office would have let him die rather than put him on an antibiotic.
