Rachel Garner's Online Review Report Card

This visit for my first ever all-body skin check was horrific. Dr. Gardner does not seem as though she has any trauma training or knows how to interact with patients in a trauma-informed manner. I am a survivor of sexual assault and the first time I interacted with Dr. Garden she moved my limbs around like a puppet, when she could have asked me (a grown adult) to move them myself. She did not treat me as though I was human; she only spoke to me directly a few times and most of the appointment was her dictating to her assistance, without explaining any of what she was saying to me directly. She did not ask before touching my private area or lifting up my underwear; this should be a given in a medical setting if you are meeting with a patient for the first time and do not know their history of trauma or abuse. This visit was incredibly upsetting and I would not recommend anyone who expects courteous and trauma-informed healthcare to go to this dermatologist.

I've been to Dr. Garner's office twice, once for a specific skin issue, and the other for an annual dermatology checkup. I was very favorably impressed both times. She is a consummate professional: knowledgeable, thorough, conscientious and respectful. During the annual exam she examined my entire body in a way that minimizes concerns about feeling exposed and self-conscious. Overall, you can be confident that you'll receive the best possible care from a dermatologist you can trust. I also found the office staff and assistants to be pleasant to interact with.

I saw Dr. Garner for the first time a few days ago - for a rash (eczema) on my legs. The condition was incorrectly diagnosed by a previous dermatologist as a fungal infection. Every aspect of my experience with Dr. Garner was positive, including discussions with her office staff, who scheduled my appointment in a friendly, enthusiastic, welcoming manner. Dr. Garner conducted the exam with thoroughness and an attention to details, showing a high degree of competence. She briefly checked other parts of my body to verify that the rash hadn’t spread beyond the initial area. In sum, I found Dr. Garner knowledgeable, competent, thorough and conscientious, while at the same time also caring and personable. I’m pleased to give a five-star rating to her. I would even go a step further to say that she has the characteristics to potentially become a distinguished physician in her field.

Very thorough exam by Dr. Rachel Garner. She and staff are pleasant and caring. Beautiful office too!

Thorough exam, low key, not rushed through appointment, very clean office (waiting room, exam rooms) courteous staff, does the exam herself (not a paramedic).

Dr. Garner was recommended to my husband and me by a coworker who was diagnosed with melanoma. I now recommend Dr. Garner to everyone looking for a dermatologist. Dr. Garner's is thorough and approachable, making her patients feel as if she really cares about them (something that's hard to find in the overbooked medical field nowadays). Her winning personality imbues her professionalism and is positively reflected in the members of her competent office staff. When my husband and I leave the office, we have every confidence that we've been assessed by one of the best physicians in the field. For us, being treated by Dr. Garner is well worth the trip from the Binghamton area to Ithaca.

A very pleasant visit. I found Dr Garner very knowledgeable, sincere, neat and organized. She spent the time to explain each and every blemish. I would highly recommend Dr. Garner and her staff consisting of receptionists and nurses. The total experience as I titled was outstanding

If you are a new patient you can see a doctor in 7 months. If you are existing one, then July. What a horrible way to take new patients.

I went in for a routine skin cancer scan, and Dr. Garner explained every bump and blotch. Now I know exactly which ones to watch, and which not to worry about. Great visit!
