I went to Dr. Castro as I was referred for evaluation of my immune system. I was battling a severe sinus infection when I went to see Dr. Castro, with extensive purulent drainage but - unbelievably - Dr. Castro dismissed this concern. So I went to my PCP the next day and was promptly medicated. Also, Dr. Castro's practice did not appreciate work a previous doctor had done in showing my non-responsiveness to the pneumonia vaccine, suggesting immune deficiency. Instead, she wrote "no indication for IVIG or SCIG," and she only prescribed me budesonide, which dried my nose up. I was told that her practice then only treated 2 patients with IVIG. I am currently being treated with IVIG with good results. My current doctor told me it was good she referred me out due to her lack of experience with primary immunodeficiency disorders. I told him that she didn't refer me, but rather I didn't return to her precisely because of her lack of experience.
