Personable and friendly. Explained problem with left knee and provided a cortisone shot to alleviate pain.
It was an Incredible Experience For one overly Scared Patient who had tried in earnest to avoid surgery, I wish I had scheduled surgery with Dr. Schweppe before attempting a slow, arduous months of physical therapy I went through, hoping that the severe fall on the ice I had, onto concrete edging along the road I live on, while putting out the garbage one wintry night, would someone miraculously heal itself. I first went to emergency at Kingston Hospital, which, except for taking x-rays, was an extremely expensive and futile attempt. I left there hurting, with no answers. I was directed to followup at Orthopedic Associates in Kingston NY and especially with Dr. Michael Schweppe. The doctor was extremely caring, comforting and he listened to me (a rare trait in many of the medical facilities I've been in) and he seemed very knowledgeable about my condition. According to friends who had shoulder problems, they swore by him. They said he had a high rate of success in the area of medical expertise that I needed. I scheduled surgery at The Surgery Center in Poughkeepsie. IT was a 6:30 AM check-in. Everyone was extremely professional and demonstrated a level of caring that's missing in most medical facilities I've attended. My arthroscopic imaging revealed that I needed 2 repairs because of my fall, one was a subacromial Decompression and an Arthroscopy Debridement and NOT the bicep tendonitis repair (of which I feared, because it would have a long recovery time). It didn't take Dr. Schweppe long to diagnose what he thought the problem was. The doctor and anesthesiologist wereat the foot of my bed when the anesthesia kicked in, and 2 hours later, in what seemed like seconds, it was over. Dr. Schweppe was at the foot of the bed giving me the good news and how well my recovery should go. Not only the Surgery Center staff in Poughkeepsie, but Dr. Schweppe, called me the next day to answer any questions I had about the operation and to go over again the discharge instructions and follow up. Having had a negative impression of most facilities and hospitals I've been in, I was amazed at the efficiency and professionalism of Dr. Schweppe and The Surgery Center (I didn't feel like a piece of meat with a social security number) .... I wish I could thank the whole staff all, but I'm hoping this surgery is a once in a lifetime experience and I hope to return to rowing and kayaking , my favorite holidays, in a few months.

the worst bedside manners i've ever seen.. he also didn't mention that the ER was supposed to have done an important procedure which they apparently skipped.. he hit the ceiling when i asked a simple question about wearing a cast "and then what" i'd said.. and he said "LOOK i'm not going to fight with you", so we won't do that then' . last i just saw of him in consult, his fly was gaping wide open, and his attitude was similar. i highly do not recommend this person for anything.
Dr Schweppe very knowledgeable, caring, listens, friendly, kind…..
I wasn't to happy with my experience there. I went in for a very painful Trigger finger on my right hand. Very nice & clean. I walked in spoke to the nurse about 15min. Then he walks in touched my hand explained what was he going to do. 1st a freeze that supposedly numbs the area then a needle/ Cortisone shot right in the middle of my palm hand LORD! I felt like he burned my hand then harpooned me like a whale. I SCREAMED and Cried for him to stop.i won't do that again. And yes the pain is back. In just after 2mos.
Go elsewhere. Wrong diagnosis. After 3 months and worsening pain, no imaging. Terrible staff follow up.
Waited over an hour, doctor didn't even unwrap hand cast (put on at hospital for broken finger) to examine hand/finger, sent in a tech to take off cast after spending less than1 minute looking at xray. Tech gave me a buddy strap for a pretty serious break. Saw doctor for less than 3 minutes and he charged over $1000. I scheduled a visit with different doc who recommended an actual splint for a couple of weeks. Was charged over a $1000 for visit for just about nothing. Terrible.
I had seen Dr Schweppe before when he drained a bakers cyst from a car backing up and slamming my leg from the knee down. It is still swelling after 8.5 months and the back of the knee hurts. He was very dismissive, saying the MRI does not lie. It said I had a torn meniscus and the cyst. The MRI does not show soft tissue, and there has to be a reason my leg is still swelling. I would not recommend Dr Schweppe. The issue is not resolved.
Dr scheep scheduled my surgery and the day before he cancelled, I left a message for him to call me and he never did, he has no compassion for the amount of pain he has left me in. Calling his office is a joke it can take 30 minutes to get to speak to someone

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
