List of Wen Shen's Reviews
Dr. Shen treated me for a bimalleolar ankle fracture in 2021. At first I thought he lacked bedside manner, but realized after multiple follow-ups that he is just shy. I think at first he is more concerned with correct diagnoses and treatment so he comes across as maybe too serious for some people. He is very caring and did a great job on my ankle. He is an excellent surgeon and took very good care of me. I would recommend him to anyone who needs foot or ankle surgery.
Visited orthopedic associates in Poughkeepsie where the nurse ordered wrong X-rays (of my ankle not my foot like I had indicated on all 8 pages of paperwork I had to fill out prior). Dr Shen then spent 3 minutes with me where he promptly stated I ‘likely’ had a strained tendon OR hairline fracture but he wasn’t sure because we didn’t have proper X-rays and there was nothing to treat the injury regardless so proper X-rays weren’t necessary. The most pointless visit. I left in no better shape, with no better understanding of my injury than I had prior to entering orthopedic associates. I almost fell off my chair when Dr Shen said he’d see me back in three weeks for a follow up where we’d do correct X-rays if things weren’t improving. Why wouldn’t proper X-rays be done at the first visit? I’m not sure exactly what the point of my first visit was but I certainly won’t be back for a second one. Dr Shen acted like I wasted his time. Very poor experience
I broke my ankle in 3 places. I am walking without any problems or assistance of any kind. I'm so grateful to you all! Thank you Dr. Wen Shen for wonderful service and work.
I'll give the staff 5 stars. He doesn't even deserve one star. I had a 5 minute exam with no information about my condition or a treatment plan. He has NO bedside manner at all, which is putting it politely.
Dr. Shen is a wonderful surgeon who answered any question I had. I find him kind compassionate and had me laughing before my surgery which helped me because I was scared. The staff are also wonderful. Thank you.
Dr. Shen is a pleasant young man who showed an interest in my problem and took the time to ask and answer a lot of questions. Dr. Shen discussed in detail my X-rays and possible solutions to the problem. He is definitely an exception to today's rushed medical encounters.
Do not recommend. Appointments ran an hour a behind. I saw him for maybe 3-5 minutes. Did not listen, instead cut me off and gave me horrible advice that actually caused more pain. Not what I would expect from the orthopedic associates of Dutchess county. I found his knowledge on my Injury to be lacking and his “bed side manner” to be awful. I got a second opinion and found his knowledge and recommendations to be wrong. Just overall he didn’t care about me his patient.
One of the worst experiences I have had with any doctor. Appointments were late. I saw him for maybe 3 minutes. Gave me horrible advice that actually caused more pain. Does not care about his patients and I found his knowledge of my Injury which is in his speciality lacking. Overcharged my insurance a outrageous amount. Just overall bad experience and not what I would expect from the orthopedic associates of the Hudson valley. I did get a second opinion from another doctor and was confirmed that his recommendation was wrong.
We were referred to Dr. Shen by another doctor for a condition that required surgery for my 10 year old daughter. At our consultation visit he was very thorough, very informative, explained her ailment, what he was going to do and aftercare in great detail. Day of surgery same thing! Everyone was very attentive, caring and helpful. Would highly recommend!
Dr. Shen saw my husband at the Walk-In Orthopedic Clinic in Kingston. After a very cursory exam (2 or 3 minutes) Dr. Shen told my husband that his proximal fracture of the humerus "would heal on it's own". Which is medically impossible - so we asked to see the X-Ray taken at the ER the day before. Shen got angry, but showed us the X-Ray with a look of disgust on his face. The image clearly showed a displaced fracture and we both wondered if he bothered to look at the X-Ray or the ER's clinical notes prior to examining my husband. The PA, nurse and administrative staff were far more professional and caring than Dr. Shen.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
