List of Dr. Marc Safran's Reviews
I wont go back to him never!
Called to make an appt due to eye pain and another doctor stating they saw something in my husband's eye- he is a diabetic. Told they are booked until May. So much for being concerned about your patients well being and putting him in an emergency spot. But they can maybe do something more if his doctor calls them. Really what a waste of everyone's time. Very disappointed in this office.
CAROL SCARLINO says "I've been seeing Dr. Safran for many years. I have always found him to be knowledgeable, personable and caring. I recently had cataract surgery that has totally changed my life! I've been given a rebirth due to the expertise of this wonderful doctor. I am so grateful for his service to humanity."
Consider other options. I firmly believe Dr. Safran misdiagnosed my eye condition. I don’t feel like he did enough testing. His bedside manner also isn’t the best. When he couldn’t figure out how to resolve my eye concerns, he actually told me I should find another doctor. So I did. Dr. Stephen Merriam at Upstate is wonderful for patients of all ages, including babies and children. This was my experience at least.
Dr. Safran first saw our son at 2 weeks old. He performed surgery to remove bilateral cataracts at a few months old. His knowledge and skill saved our sons vision. He is now 22 years old and continues to be under Dr. Safran’s care. Our family is grateful for his expertise as well as his unwavering support and concern for our son. We highly recommend him without hesitation.
Took my 4 year old to Dr. Safran twice for an eye exam. She has very poor vision in one eye that cannot be corrected with lenses. She wasn't very cooperative as her eyes are very sensitive to light. This doctor may be technically competent and good with adults but he is terrible with children. I thought maybe I caught him on a bad day the first time but the second appointment was just as bad as the first. He just kept mumbling to her "I'm not hurting you, calm down". When I told him she was reacting to the light he told me she was just acting out and effectively called her a drama queen. If your young child needs eye care this is not the practice for you.
My husband and I have both been seeing Dr. Safran for several years and find him highly skilled, thorough, and professional. His manner varies somewhat depending on how busy he is, but he responds to questions even at his busiest, answering them clearly and thoroughly. I trust his judgment and experience. I also found his staff polite and helpful.
I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes and was extremely happy. No pain post op or any issues Specialty surgical center was great as well . I thought the office staff was professional and pleasant. I would certainly recommend him.
Doctor Safran is a technically excellent Doctor that sincerely cares about his patients. He also has traveled internationally numerous times to care for the less fortunate and their vision needs. On a recent visit my personal schedule was very hectic and the staff was able to keep my visit on time despite being extremely busy themselves. I have a hard time with the glaucoma pressure test, yet the nurse that administers the test was very patient in making sure she had accurate results.
What an amazing, caring practice!! Not only thorough but they TRULY care about their patients!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
