List of John D. Allendorf's Reviews
I can’t say enough good things about this Dr and his entire staff. Highly recommend
I was referred to Dr. Allendorf by my Endocrinologist after watching my left Adrenal gland for 6 months. Due to it’s size it was recommended that it be removed. He was very relaxed and answered all my question’s . Adrenal surgery is not a routine procedure that’s done everyday. He is a excellent surgeon and a kind man who cares about his patient’s.
Dr Allendorf is a wonderful surgeon who removed my thyroid. He was professional, answered all my questions, I found him very comforting as my Surgeon. He did a great job on my surgery. He removed my thyroid, and there is hardly a viewable scar. He put it right in a fold in my neck. Wonderful Surgeon, highly recommend. These negative reviews was not what I experienced.
Dr. Allendorf treated my 21 year old daughter for a rare pancreatic tumor. He was amazing in his care for her and he was attentive, thorough and caring. I appreciated the fact that the entire hospital staff that we were ever in contact with said for sure they would use him for any family member who needed his care and we spoke to another patient's family who traveled from Georgia to NY for their daughter's cancer treatment. I can't say enough about Dr. Allendorf!
I had surgery with Dr Allendorf for a goiter that I had on my left thyroid, the goiter was so big that it started to have symptoms of choking with range of motion, he did my surgery and I am so glad that my dr chose him for my care, he did a excellent job and my scar is hardly noticeable. I am so excited no more choking symptoms and I feel great. thanks to Dr Allendorf .
He did my surgery. I had no pain and made a full recovery.

I never felt like a patient i felt like a family member because the way they was so caring ! I had my thyroid removed n I must say from the sugeon , to the RN to the anesthesiologists was all amazing ! Thank you guys so much ! There’s actually still people in the world that genuinely care & not for just a check! Thank you winthrop Staff!
I wa referred to Dr. Allendorf because of a diagnosis of a rare adrenal gland tumor-"Pheochromacytoma" He is considered an expert on these rare tumors. They are so rare that the surgeon that you choose must be experienced with this surgery as it can be a dangerous surgery. Dr. Allendorg fits that profile. He has performed over 30 of these surgeries. He is considered a "rock star" at Winthrop Hospital because of this particular surgery and other delicate surgeries. I did not find him condescending. He answered all questions with clarity and sincerity. Dr. Allendorf is low key and laid back, he reminds me of the character "George Baily" from the movie "Its a Wonderful Life". Having said all this, I wish I had gotten a second opinion on this surgery. The surgery had to be done but Dr. Allendorfs standard operating procedure for these tumors is to remove the tumor and the Adrenal gland that it is attached to. If I could do this again, I would have consulted with another expert surgeon and seen if they could have removed the tumor while leaving and sparing the Adrenal Gland. I'm sure this could have been done. Althoug he has his reasons, removal of the gland is just what Dr. Allendorf does 90% of the time. The Adrenal gland is an important organ(as they all are) and I wish I had gotten that second or third opinion and thus probably would still have two Adrenal glands. If you are diagnosed with a "Pheochromacytoma" and choose Dr. Allendorf you will be in great hands as he and his assitances are experts in the condition. If you have further concers/questions on my experience with this and you think I can assist you please reach out to me at baily710@yahoo.com. Good luck!
I had a consultation for thyroid surgery. I found him very laid back- almost too much so. He was informative, explained the possible surgical options as well as all the risks associated with them. I would recommend him.
My while experience was handled very professionally with ample time to ask questions and feel very confident though out my whole experience

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
