Always loved the staff and clients here! I'm still a member today ♥️
As a former employee of this company (Registered Nurse), I can attest to every single negative review that is posted. Unfortunately, this company is not patient-oriented, rather they push employees to only provide services which can be billed for. There is much hostility in the workplace which created a toxic environment. I would like to think that it’s only been going on for a short time (which is what I have been telling myself), but we all know that there is an underlying cause for the high turnover that BHSN has. Not only is this hostility affecting employees, but it is affecting patients. I, personally, cannot morally support a company which I believe is not patient-oriented. Employees are not given the opportunity to appropriately care for patients; such as things that are not billable, for example. The care that they are wanting us to give to patients is not of any quality and that is reflected when we speak with them over the phone. Roughly, one in five patients tell me how disappointed they are with the care they are receiving, whether it be due to medications not being filled, clinicians “not helping,” no one calling them back, rude staff - the list goes on. I have tried to do what I can to advocate for patients and provide excellent care, but my hands are tied as they have been when I am micromanaged and told the limitations on what I am “allowed” to do for them.I tried to advocate while I was employed there, but burned out quickly due to the above. If you are a patient, please research and advocate for yourself for quality care and know your rights (as another review states). If you are a potential employee, run.
Have a grandson whom has been struggling. We had appt to see provider that put him on med and now has to wait for another appt with different provider and no idea when that will be. His life once again put on hold while he waits. Not fair.med 2 week ago to find out this am that the provider no longer is there.
As a client who has utilized services in multiple departments from Behavioral Health Services North in recent years I would recommend anyone considering care management and housing services stay away from BHSN. HIPPA violations were a common daily issue in the housing program. Employees refusing to provide grievance forms, program management discriminating against client applicants based on their qualifying conditions, care coordinators misinforming clients creating coordination issues with out of agency services. Employees are coached to push in agency services and on multiple occasion misrepresented that I would be denied services if I did not receive all services at the agency - which violates the NYS Patient Bill of Rights. If you don’t know your rights and/or are not comfortable advocating for yourself avoid this agency. The one silver lining in the entire agency was the Personal Recovery Oriented Services program (PROS) which I found to be very beneficial. If you are considering BHSN I strongly advise that you have outside coordination and advocacy to protect you or your loved one from the agencies push for quantity of services rather than quality of care.Update: As I expected two weeks has passed since my initial review, the response to my review indicated they took these matters seriously and that someone would be following up with me in regards to the issues I mentioned. I was not contacted. BHSN is all about public image, since that time I also had a practitioner misrepresent my rights under the New York State Patient Bill of Rights legislation allowing a patient to receive services and treatment from the licensed professionals of their own choosing. For the third time an employee falsified my right noted above by claiming I had to receive all services within the agency or I would not be eligible to continue receiving treatment.-I personally have witnessed and am aware of countless HIPPA Privacy law violations committed by employees on a regular basis I throughout the agency in the PROS program, as well as the Housing Program in it’s various functions. This President of BHSN has been pushing billable services and continually patient have seen the quality of care provided throughout the agency declined since the president took over for their predecessor.-I have met and have been made aware from multiple former staff members who left at least in part because of this “in house policy”. Professionals who care about the quality of care they provide do not stay with the agency but utilize it as a stepping stone in their careers. However, this is one of the largest hubs for mental health services in the Clinton County as well as the surrounding counties in the rural northern New York area.
They're pretty good! Please change the hold tone. Good god.
Wish they cared... I tried for weeks to make an appointment, played phone tag back and forth, most of the time they didn't even bother calling back when I left detailed voice messages explaining I was in desperate need of someone to talk to. At one point, I got so desperate, that I called and left a VM asking them to just schedule me, anytime when ever they had available and I would make it work around my work schedule. I asked them to just put me on the books and leave me a VM letting me know when the appointment was, and they never called back. Two months later, I am on the brink of a mental health crisis and at this point feel MHU is my only option. Thanks BHSN, I'm so glad our community has your "support."
I was on edge when my friend brought me to BHSN for an evaluation nine years ago. I was put through their PRO'S program over the next few years. During that time, my son died, sending me into a downward spiral. The wonderful people at BHSN helped me through. I can't thank them enough for all they did for me.I still use their adult clinic to stay on track once a month today.SC.
I was in the Pros program for over 5 years and it helped me with my mental health and legal stuff that I was going through. I still go to bhsn but in the adult clinic now. I am now mentally stable. They helped me out alot. I use my coping skills all the time. It's a great place to get help. They help you with housing, daily living skills, transportation, education and employment and other things.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
