Very thorough and kind. Offered an alternative to a more painful procedure.
Had a wonderful 1st appointment with Dr. Strachan, she was detailed and efficient. I appreciated her recommendations and look forward to working with her in the future 😊 Zoey (sorry if I misspelled) at the front desk was also lovely, thank you both!
My experience at Aglow Dermatology was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, the team provided expert care, making me feel comfortable and confident throughout my treatment. The results speak for themselves my skin has never looked more radiant, smooth, and refreshed. I left feeling renewed, glowing, and deeply grateful for the professionalism and artistry of their work. Aglow Dermatology truly delivers beauty with brilliance. I will be back again to treat myself soon !
Really a great experience. The staff made me really comfortable and everything was explained very thoroughly. Would recommend!
My most recent visit to Dr. Statchan's office was my third time seeing her, unfortunately I won't be back. She has never been warm and fuzzy but professional and knowledgable so I ignored prior comments and reviews but now I understand them. I went to the office because my beautician said she noticed my hair was thinning slightly in one spot in the back of my head and suggested I had a biopsy. I had never had one before and didn't fully understand what it was so I was unsure what to expect. I went in with twists in my hair and began to take them out where I thought the spot was. The doctor came in to inspect my scalp and asked if she could take out more twists to see fully, I said of course. She pulled them out and was rough, it felt like she was racking through my hair, but I pacified it as she was just busy and tried not to take it personally. She said she saw a slight area of thinning and we could do a biopsy today because it could be alopecia. The idea of hair loss is devastating to me so internally I began to panic. She told me I could do the biopsy that day or wait, but told me to I needed to hurry up and make the decision so the the medical assistant doesn't waste time setting up. Red flag number two. I asked her to explain the procedure and in a succinct tone she explained she would inject anesthesia, cut out a hair plug, stitch me up and that I would be at risk of infection because of the open wound. Every alarm went of in my body. I wasn't ready, but a part of me wanted to get it over with. I asked if it would hurt she sarcastically said that's the point of the anesthesia. Red flag three. Being sarcastic when discussing injecting me is insane. She takes me to another room, but the idea of this cold woman sticking a needle in my head and cutting me isn't sitting well with me, but the idea of losing my hair is also weighing on me — I want to get this over with, I believe in early detection and treatment, so I try to toughen up. But then I start to sob. I was so embarrassed. The MA comes in sees I'm upset, snickers and says "it's not that scary," and walks out. (Is that how she is training the next generation to treat patients?) When the doctor came in I asked more questions about the procedure, she didn't engage in a conversation she more so spoke at me, she answered them but was visibly annoyed and short. Then they start whispering over my head behind me, in the final second before they were going to inject the needle I apologized and said I couldn't do it. The doctor took off her gloves and stormed out. I admit I was overly emotional at the idea of losing my hair and being injected with a needle in my head, but her lack of compassion when I'm literally having an anxiety attack is concerning. I felt unsafe, and uncared for. That procedure was just another check for her to collect. It's a shame because she is so knowledgable and we need more Black derms but we also need better bedside manor, kindness and thoughtfulness. Basically, you need tough skin to deal with Dr. Statchan, and I work to hard to pay for insurance to be talked down to and humiliated and play tough. We all deserve compassion especially when there are needles involved.
I have finally found a great dermatologist! Dr. Strachan is amazing! She is patient and she thoughtfully answered all my questions. The staff is really kind and patient. Bianca, who did my intake asked me in depth questions regarding my why I came in. I felt like I was finally going to be taken care of! As a Black person, it has been challenging to find a dermatologist that takes the time to listen to my concerns and give me meaningful feedback. I am so glad I found Dr. Strachan and the lovely wonderful staff at Aglow Dermatology!
Had a great first derm appointment here! Very timely, knowledgeable and friendly staff and Doctor!
Really hospitable staff :)))

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
