Dr. Askanase is the most professional, knowledgeable, and caring rheumatologist I have ever seen. I feel sooo~ lucky to find her and make her my rheumatologist upon my relocation to New York City.

Dr. Askanase is the most compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable doctor I have ever been in the care of. I am honestly shocked by the poor reviews on this page. After years of rheumatologists telling me I was 'stressed', Dr. Askanase took my symptoms seriously and has provided me outstanding care for over five years. Yes, she is busy. I make my appointments for the calendar year at the start of January. It ensures I get in - but what NYC doctor worth your time isn't this busy? When I complete the bloodwork she's ordered, the lab always mentions how she is the most thorough doctor at Columbia Medical Center - she's tests for everything! Her thoroughness has brought me to a diagnosis and treatment. Leila, her NP, is also incredible. If I have a question, and I often do, I will hear back from her within 24 hours. I don't wish my worst enemy the need of a rheumatologist, but if you are in need of one, you could not find better.

She is very busy, when she will always find time to take care of her sick patients. Few physicians are this dedicated to their patients nowadays!!

She was very rude no bedside manner at all. She may know what she was talking about but there was not a patient bond there at all. She basically said people have worse sytmtoms then you deal with it..... will not go back

She is not a very good doctor doesn’t really show interest in her patients . Sometimes she can be rude .

I was a patient of Dr. Askanase for years before moving. I dont know what others may think but I think this woman is AMAZING. I went to her after being diagnosed and my first appointment lasted over an hour. She wanted all the information herself. She comforted me and assured me she would do the best she could. Boy did she ever! I remember going to her and asking if I should try and be as active as I used to be. She said yes and if I got sick we would work through it. She knew how important that was to me. I am now 11 years without a flare and it is all because of Dr. Askanase. She encouraged me when other doctors discouraged me. I now live in Florida and I do not have the same level of care but I know if anything goes wrong I can take a plane ride to see her. Thank you Dr. Askanase.

Dr. Askanase treated me for undifferentiated connective tissue disease for a year. This was my first diagnosis, and she put me on Plaquenil right away. A year later, my arthritis was better, but I was still in significant pain. She prescribed 2 NSAIDs (somehow overlooking the fact that I was taking both at the same time) and eventually suggested I try a new drug that might put me into remission. After a few minutes, I realized she was describing Plaquenil--the drug I'd been on for a year already
