Andrea Persaud Md's Online Review Report Card

ANY DOCTOR BUT THIS ONE!! Wouldn’t typically go out of my way to write a review, but hoping this saves someone from a horrible - and possibly dangerous - experience with a healthcare physicians. This doctor rushed me out of the room after talking for maybe 3 mins. When I told her I had booked a skin cancer screening months ago and had been waiting to get in she laughed at me and said “I don’t have time for that”. I was then billed $250 for the visit…a visit that didn’t accomplish ANYTHING! I’ve been trying to dispute this for weeks and they don’t return my calls. Stay away from this doctor. Stay away from Medical Offices of Manhattan.

Zero people skills. Was 45 minutes late and acted like I was the inconvenience. Extremely unhelpful and combative. Condescending and rude for no discernible reason.

After living in NYC over 13 years, this is my first time ever experiencing this kinds of behavior from a doctor. I went in for consultation for my condition as my primary care doctor recommended me to check out. Similar as other reviews, she also rushed me and doesn't listen but cut me off when I am trying to speak. Not to mention that she also kept repeating the same answer multiple times as is if I am not understanding her English. Office charged me over $280 for a 5min chat with her which was basically recommendation of a product from amazon. This is fine with me since my condition turnout to be nothing serious. However, if I am getting charged $280 for 5min chat, I expect doctors to take time to listen why I am even here and be more polite. I will never go back to Manhattan of Medical office ever again because of her.

I followed the reviews for Dr. Persaud on Zocdoc and will always check other sources for reviews moving forward. Had I checked Dr. Persaud's Yelp reviews first, I could have saved myself from this poor experience. I usually don't ask many questions at all in a medical appointment but this doctor's cursory review of my concerns made me feel like I needed to get clarification. I felt dismissed by this doctor and it was clear to me that they are not keen on patients being involved in their own treatment and questioning their medical opinion. I highlight my main grievances below:- The medical assistant was audibly and visibly frustrated that she had to explain the process of a skin cancer screening to me (it was my first one) as I was not aware I would need to completely undress. There were better ways to handle this on the assistant's part even if it should have been obvious to me. - Dr. Persaud opened my room door without knocking.- Dr did not explain the screening procedure as she was going over my body so I did not know what to expect and felt uncomfortable with her comments about my skin as if it were a museum object. - Dr sighed out of frustration because I was asking questions about skin issues I was concerned about and replied "what do you want me to do?"- Dr repeated the same explanation over and over again when I asked clarifying questions on her opinion of my concerns and ended with "PLEASE" and her hands in prayer to suggest I stop asking questions and just take what she told me. - Dr, in a frustrated tone, felt the need to hyperbolically justify her medical training with "I am trained with my EYES (pointed to her eyes) to recognize benign skin conditions". - Dr. prescribed medication within 1 minute of me explaining a particular issue and didn't suggest any alternatives or treatment steps to consider. I would prefer not to have someone prescribe medication like they're handing out stickers. - When I exited the patient room, I asked if I needed anything else and the front desk person didn't look up from their phone as they said "you should be fine". This was an incredibly awkward, frustrating, and uncomfortable experience for me. I would never recommend Dr. Persaud to anyone in the future and would like them to reevaluate the chaotic energy they bring to an appointment and how they treat their patients when they want to understand what's going on with them. I will be going to a different dermatologist because I do not trust this doctor's opinion whatsoever.

I finally found a new dermatologist to replace Dr. Persaud. I've never experienced having a "bad doctor" until I met her. It took MONTHS to book an appointment with her, just for her to see me for less than 5 mins and brush off my concerns. During the long months of waiting to see her, i would email her photos/concerns for her to look through, and once I saw her in person, she had the audacity to complain about the emails. Her answer to my skin problem was to "google it." I've never heard a doctor tell me to google what's wrong with me. She does NOT listen and will cut you off if you try to speak. She's extremely unhelpful and I wish I never wasted my time and money with her. I could've "googled" my answers instead...I do not recommend her at ALL.

Extremely thorough and explains examination in detail

Bedside manner was odd. I'm trying to explain my past history and twice she cuts me off mid-sentence. Very condescending and not very thorough. This is the ONLY Manhattan Dermatologist that doesn't require a copay for my insurance-- next time, I would rather pay and see a doctor that will let me finish a sentence.
