STAY AWAY FROM HERE! I have been a patient of AO for over five years, and while the care has been good, I recently had an extremely disappointing experience dealing with the front desk. During several phone calls regarding billing issues, I encountered rude and unprofessional behavior that is completely unacceptable. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have lost my respect and trust in the doctors as well. They seem to order numerous unnecessary tests. For example, if I came in for a stye, why would a visual field test or a cataract screening be required? I ended up with a bill of over $1,000. The billing practices here are absurd and feel completely unreasonable.

I saw Dr. Rudick today for severe eye dryness/redness(thanks frank for booking my appointment). After years of suffering and embarrassed of red eyes, Dr. Rudick inserted these plugs in my tear ducts and boom, just like that I already saw a difference. I no longer have redness and look forward to my follow up in 3 weeks. Staff was helpful from beginning to end. Thank you!

Dr. Shepps and his office staff were fantastic from start-to-finish. The reception worker was friendly and helpful, and my wait was less than 5 minutes. Dr. Shepps’ assistant was thoughtful and thorough, and Dr. Shepps himself had a great bedside manner and explained to me very clearly what is going on with my eyes. Awesome experience!

Dr. Wallis and the whole staff here are WONDERFUL.They were all extremely supportive - and competent! - in seeing me through my recent cataract surgeries. I find eye exams and surgery very difficult, but Dr Shepps achieved an excellent surgical outcome and everyone was very kind. Highly recommended.

I couldn’t have had a better experience at AO. I needed cataract surgery at a pretty young age and Dr. Shepps and his team took very good care of me. Everyone was warm, caring, professional, helpful, and kind. Big shoutout to Yvonne and Tamika who went above and beyond for me. Seeing their faces and feeling their warmth made the experience so much easier. Thank you everyone!

Remarkable experience worth every penny. I had PRK performed by Dr. Rudick less than a week ago and am already flirting with 20/15 vision. The entire process was straightforward and concise. Consultations were typically forty minutes or less from arrival to meeting with Dr. Rudick, who clearly conveyed details of the procedures and their recovery timelines. All of my questions were answered, and each time I left his office I felt confident and knew I had gone to the right place. The procedure itself was rapid, easy, and relaxed thanks to Dr. Rudick and his assistant at Mt. Sinai. Healing has been incredible and painless — nothing like the severe discomfort I had expected from PRK research. I can't recommend Dr. Rudick and his office enough for corrective laser eye surgery. I have never encountered such an unprofessional and unpleasant interaction as I did with Christine at reception over the phone. From the moment the conversation began, she refused to allow me to complete a single sentence, cutting me off repeatedly with an abrasive tone. Each attempt I made to clarify was met with another interruption—followed by her astonishing decision to blame me for “repeating myself.” This level of rudeness and dismissiveness is unacceptable for someone in a front-facing role representing the organization.

Dr. Shepps has great patient /doctor connection. Staff members are very friendly, professional and helpful. Have only one complaint: maybe Dr. Shepps, and other tenants of the building, could maybe talk to the owners/management of the building about putting grab bars along the wall of the bathroom stalls. I know for sure some of Dr. Shepps' patients would benefit from that amenity.

I was recommended by a client/friend who is employed there. Dani is wonderful. Dr. Shepps is quite thorough and very professional. I appreciate the high level of service!

1 star. Would give zero if I could. Worth noting: Zocdoc doesn’t allow reviews unless you book through their system, and Healthgrades rejected my comment for being “too negative.” I now realize how misleading these glowing reviews can be. Came here only because it’s close to my office—huge mistake. After finishing all new patient paperwork promptly, I waited over 25 minutes with zero communication. No one checked in. I had to step out and ask. The nurse, visibly irritated, kept repeating “no problem” as if my time didn’t matter. When I asked if I could expect to be seen soon, she said, “hard to say.” Dr. Blackman eventually appeared just long enough to say—curtly—that she was with another patient and would be with me “soon.” No apology, no explanation, just attitude. If you’re looking for basic respect or time management, look elsewhere.
